Problem with my map, and creating a believable world

Your dedication to realism and detail amazes me... Your lack of paragraphs confuses me. Please rearrange your post and I promise I'll be able to read it over, think about it, and give you a decent suggestion.

Is main stream publishing ready for transgendered characters? Opinions anyone?

In Sci Fi it's not an issue. Was it Greb Bear (is that his name?) that wrote that great book with assemblers etc? Basically the characters reassemble themselves into whatever they want, woman, man, centaur. That said, it's not 'about' that but rather it's just another amazing sci fi thing within...

Protection against mages in a high magic system

Ooooo Ooo, I LOVE this. Let's play a game. Mages are uber powerful, there is no "kryptonite" (shame on you mythique :D). How do you kill these guys? What would happen in a "real" world if these oppressors existed? 1. Sex kills. Agents of the opposite sex(or same, whatever) pose as...

    Expanding My Vocabulary!

Elder the Dwarf makes a very good point. On another note: what you are doing is awesome. Keep looking into expanding your vocabulary. I would recommend that when using truly rare words you make sure the meaning is clear through context (at least when using them for the first time).

Looking for the best descriptive writing (people and places)

Hey guys, thanks for all your tips! @Darkstorm - I tried to clarify a bit in the In summary - What books have you read where most things were cliche or downright uninteresting but the descriptions and set ups were amazing? - Now, it might have been unnecessary to ask that the examples should...

Are you a Type A, or type B personality?

Got 51 ! How's that for being exactly in the middle? haha.

Looking for the best descriptive writing (people and places)

I'm getting examples here of 'lots' of description as a cause for the book sucking. In short it's the opposite of what I was asking for :) ... I want the descriptions to be GREAT, it's ok if they felt a bit too long if they were great while the rest of the book was so so.

    Here I am

I'm delighted I finally decided to sign up for these forums. Loads of great people here all with common dreams. I've been writing for a while but unless you frequent certain unorthodox websites you probably haven't read anything of mine. Hopefully I'll be a good addition to the community...

    Freyja

I'm a bit curious. Are you looking for more stories about Freya that you cannot find referenced in the wiki page?

    Best Writing Tips

If you feel super inspired about an event that is to occur later, don't wait or force yourself to write what leads up to it - write it right away!

Looking for the best descriptive writing (people and places)

Wrote a long reply then clicked reply to thread again instead of submit... Yeah, in short, tolkien is great, Wizard's Rule is cliche and thanks for the tips :)

    Real, Imaginary, and Perception

I try and project real world psychology when handling what you are describing. Any group will develop stories/myths these then are simultaneously believed in and not believed in. Most people in a medieval setting will need something to gossip about when they gather but will in all likelihood...

Food! Real, Partial Fantasy or Completely Fantasy?

Vampire bat rump steak sounds nice, they would have to be quite giant indeed. All that hanging from cave ceilings probably tendered em up good too. On a more serious note, I have a few unique animals in my world but beyond that cuisines are similar to what you would expect in a feudal society...

Looking for the best descriptive writing (people and places)

Hello Everyone, I've been looking around this forum for a while now and finally signed up. I've been writing my first novel for quite a while now and it's become time to get serious about its quality to potential readers. It's quite clear to me and those who've had a chance to read some of...
