I just wanted to say Merry Christmas (and happy holidays, I know we're quite a diverse bunch) to everyone. I've been scanning the site for the last couple days and I figured I should pop in to say hi. It seems to have grown quite nicely, so an ovation and thanks to the mods and members who...
J.K. Rowling, to me, certainly didn't earn money due to her world building skills. She earned money because she told a good story. She may not technically be a great writer, but her ability to tell that story in a way that was easy to understand and interesting (for an audience that consists...
If you look at Sanderson I would definitely start with Mistborn. There are some pretty awesome fight scenes, but they don't involve swords. Great characters, funny dialogue, and some solid twists. Check it out.
Jon, Tyrion, Robb, Bronn, Ned, Jaime, Davos, Bran, Doran, Daenerys, and Dolorous Ed. Went for a nice D streak there. Also, huge Tommen fan (in the later books).

I actually think Legend would be much easier to do well, though I would love a Waylander movie. Not a huge Clive Owen fan, but I did enjoy King Arthur. I think Christian Bale would actually make a pretty good Waylander. Sean Bean would be good if he weren't already in so many fantasy...
Currently reading A Dance with Dragons and The Black Company (I think it is the first 3 books together). So far this summer I've read mainly recommendations from this site. American Gods, The Name of the Wind, Before they are Hanged, The Last Argument of Kings, and a couple others I am...
