I forgot to mention i'm nigerian american who has several nigerian american characters under their belt. I the only issue i could run into is when writing just plain black american characters as i only got glimpse as to what life is like in their perspective.

I’m all for leeway on how you envision a character but I wanna ask how I can avoid the white is the default mindset when describing characters in written mediums.

technically speaking, my werewolves (or faerah in general) can get drunk but it depends on the species in question. but for the sake of this thread, let's just talk about werewolves. if a werewolf ever got drunk, there's a likely chance they might shift by accident and cause a commotion...

so, what is skypunk exactly? first time hearing the term.

fantasy lets you do anything and you're not super limited unlike in sci fi where you have to make sure it relates to science...sort of. now personally i don't read fantasy but i enjoy writing it.

i like werewolves (though other werebeast need some love) but i don't mind vampires but...and this might be unpopular but...FREAKING HATE ZOMBIES. I'm like the only person in the freaking universe that unconditionally hates them. so naturally, the idea of blood sucking zombies is a turn off...

I feel like the idea of collaboration is fine, just that my experiences with it soured me from ever doing again. I wouldn't mind doing collaborative writing but I found just having a brain storm buddy of suffice for me.

The magic system i made was intended to be universal since my "metahumans" or superhumans are kinda similar to mages. IO is basically mana and the higher in tier you are, the more likely you waste IO. I do have plans on talking about the different classes(power types), levels (power potential)...

As a writer, Sometimes i might sturggle to find the words to something cause although i know what it looks right, it's not easy to jot down words that visualizes it clearly. like for example, there's this certain way a person carries someone. i know what it means but there's no word or phrase to...

I agree. I struggle with those alot but it doesn't hurt to try.

Just write half the time. just state a basic idea of the world then go from there. World building can be a massive distraction from actually getting things done.

What aspect of the writing or story does epic fantasy appeal to you? If you disagree with this being the most important genre of fantasy, express why you think so. i'm not supr big on it. i don't mind in small doses and as such it's a fine genre on it's own. the reason it appeals to some folks...

I mostly like working in more modern settings but one world i've built was a african inspired setting where the main races were arthropod humanoids. it was my answer to the endless sea of sometimes bog standard medieval settings starting humans and human wannabes.

i agree with the latter, but i feel like building a culture from the ground up is harder than taking inspiration from a pre-established culture. trust me, i tried this before and i hated it. but it can be done well but ultimately, people will always make comparisons on many things.
