    Ask, you may be surprised

"I'm doing some research for a novel" is basically magic words. I've gotten replies from all kinds of people I never expected to answer. Its great!

Anyone else on here into vintage computing?

Actually I probably can help with that. Let me ask around. If you're interested, the Vintage Computer Federation has a thriving PDP community.

Anyone else on here into vintage computing?

Just curious, I know a lot of fantasy writers in my vintage computing communities, so I figure it might work both ways. Also, if anyone is doing a period piece and needs to know about computers from some era, hit me up. I know lots.

How about one more thread about maps?

Yup. I am looking in to doing that next. Unfortunately I am in the midst of a massive heatwave and have all my more sophisticated computers shut down. Specifically the machine with all the files for the website on it. I'm typing this on an intel atom PC the size of a hockey puck.

    Hello All,

How about one more thread about maps?

What I really want is one of those click drag and zoom things for my book website. But I do not know to code.

How about one more thread about maps?

New user, sorry if this violates some rule. Didn't want to hijack the other threads. I was curious if anyone has a good way to present a map to the reader when it is entirely too large? My map lives inside an adobe illustrator document as a rastor graphic that's somewhere around 80 inches by 80...

    Discovery mapping

Tolkien said to draw the map first, then write the story to fit the map. Otherwise you can end up with absurd problems.

    Hello All,

Hey, I wouldn't have gotten this far if I weren't having a lot of fun doing it

    Hello All,

Hi there. I am new to this forum but very old to writing. I'm currently in the midst of a highly unsuccessful bid to publish(it is not going well). But I heard people like deep world-building on this forum. Well, I've got a world I've been building for 28 years and writing novels set in for just...
