I watch a lot of anime and I also like to blend contradictory themes into characters and plot. I see something generic and just try to think how I can flip it in a way that has never been or rarely been done and I put many of those concepts together into something that makes sense to me.
Zeke seems like a more complex character than Robin who comes off a bit shallow without more information. So id say Zeke because he has room for empathy but only uses it sparingly while showing his darker colors to outsiders.
I would suggest adding in an entire bestiary for the creatures of the world, even if you don't plan on using them all, sometimes I get really good ideas from just making up creatures.
