Jac Buchanan

I'm an Australian author who is currently using short stories to experiment with (breaking) writing rules, (destroying) tropes and generally challenging my writing style. It's been a load of fun!
Previously an editor, while I'm not working I'm offering to do proofreading for whatever writers can afford. Keep my lights on, and your work polished! Although I write in AU-English, I'm also proficient in UK- and US-English.

Published:
  • Accidental Prostitute (tragedy) uses 2nd person POV to walk the reader through the MC's stream of consciousness as they come to terms with a tragedy.
  • You & I (mystery/erotica) is a fast-paced celebration of women's sexuality, starring a middle-aged woman.

Some of my WIP:
  • The Ki'ren Chronicles (fantasy) plays on reader bias and has all-female POV Characters.
  • Dying Magpie (tragedy/psych thriller) has my first trans man character, first Indigenous Australian character and first time dropping quotations from dialogue (naughty, naughty, I know).
  • The Akkerbak Files (murder mystery) starring a middle-aged female detective.
