    First or third person?

Thank you, I'll give this a read! 😊

    First or third person?

My thinking is that my MC definitely needs someone to push against her in a way that challenges her worldviews, attitudes, etc. She has a reason to leave her situation, something to move towards, and there's moments I have planned out - I just think it might be a little boring if it's just her...

    First or third person?

So far I've written in first person subjective with a little interior monologuing. I think I'd write it in third omniscient to retain some interiority. I think my main concern is getting across character emotion within the framework of the story, and maybe third omniscient would be better for...

    First or third person?

I've never actually read a book written like that, to be honest!

    First or third person?

Yeah, I won't lie when I say it's part of the reason I'm reconsidering it.

    First or third person?

I'm about 4 chapters into my novel, and I'm questioning the POV I'm writing in. So far I've written from the first person perspective of my MC Mielli, because the story is ultimately about her journey to recover from trauma (so it seemed natural). Recently I decided that I'm going to give her...

What random rabbit holes have you gone down while researching?

I see what you mean! In my defense, I did search "what painkillers were used in medieval Finland" (the story I'm writing about is loosely based on Finland's climate, so I wanted to know about specific plants), it's just too easy for me to click on the other links on Wikipedia. But I will keep...

What random rabbit holes have you gone down while researching?

Ah, poetry. That makes sense to be fair— sometimes I do more googling than I need to, especially because I'm only on a first draft. Dragon root sounds awesome, I wish it were real too! I really need someone to beat "ugly writing is ok" into my brain. I am a chronic over-editor.

What random rabbit holes have you gone down while researching?

I love learning new things, even if they weren't the things I intended to learn lol. It's always time well spent!

What random rabbit holes have you gone down while researching?

Makes sense, I'm very new to the craft (and I have no formal training in research) so I have a lot to learn still. 😅 Any tips on doing effective research?

What random rabbit holes have you gone down while researching?

I was researching medieval medicine and painkillers, and then all of a sudden I'm learning about dunnocks. Did you know that they're part of a genus of birds that are endemic to the palearctic region, which is the biggest biogeographic realm on Earth? Yeah, me neither, until about 5 minutes...

How to keep a simple plot interesting?

I like this. A lot. I also adore my sisters so this would be a delight to write about. Thank you for all of your helpful comments!!!

How to keep a simple plot interesting?

I do have her background planned out - she's from a noble family, the marriage was one of convenience, so her husbands wealth has kept her family afloat. She stayed for so long out of the guilt of thinking that they might be left penniless if she leaves, but it gets to the point she realises...
