What do we think of cosy fantasy?

While I dont think I could read/write a pure cozy fantasy, I think all of them should have cozy parts. It seems a lot of stories use the down time between action for angst and depressing monologues. But even the roughest characters need some quiet time in the sun with tea in their hands. It...

Characters getting injured or hurt, how much is too much?

Yeah...there are limits. Looking at the manga/anime world, there are crazy fights where combatants bleed 10x more blood than their body contains, lose limbs, and keep on truckin'. Kinda silly. I beat the hell out of my characters. They get injured, maimed and die. There's usually some down time...

    Twisting mythical creatures; how far?

What I like to do is create huminoid-ish races based on monsters. So, for example, my phoenixes appear like elves, but with huge, coppery wings, and the ability to produce fire. Of course, they immolate when they are killed and appear as babies in from their own ashes. I did a similar thing with...

Be Honest: Why are you Really Not Published Yet?

This may be an odd standpoint because it seems to me that many writers want to be published "offically". My problem isn't finishing - I've completed 3 books so far. But, early on, I thought about chasing agents and trying to be published. I saw that it's really a lot of work and very time...

Be honest, how ‘beautiful’ is your protagonist?

My MC is described a fit with a wiry frame. In his mid-twenties, he has a fair share of scars (particularly on his face) from several battles. His short-cropped hair is typically under a wide-brimmed hat. He's never described as being particularly handsome or ugly (although he's sensitive about...

    Head hopping?

Not sure if this is the same, but I do something similar, usually in final battles, swapping POVs between the combatants. I really like this as it gives the reader insight into what each fighter is thinking, how hurt they really are, and what they are planning tactics-wise.

How comfortable are you writing ahem, 'romance' ?

I may be a bit weird, but I tend to avoid foul language and erotica (I use homebrew explicative and leave early before the romance gets heated). But at the same time, I don't mind excessive violence (not torture porn, but brutal combat and the aftereffects).
