Wars and Revolutions - Do You Have Them in Your Stories?

I have a massive, ancient war going on between the races of my land. The fighting has been going on for over three centuries, and is taking a terrible toll over the people and countries. Basically, it's a world war. My writing takes place near the end of the war, as one side is gradually losing.

    Your longest serving character?

My longest running character is a tough old general named Tal. He's human, and is a very good leader, albeit a quirky one as well. He's actually a pretty interesting character though...and a critical part of my plot. I've only been using him for about a year and a half.

    Random thoughts

Well...after a long break from writing and this community I've returned. Unfortunately, due to life and school in general, I have been extremely busy. So busy in fact that I got to a point where writing lost it's appeal. But...I'm back at it again, and hope to finish my rough draft by the end...

    Building a new race?

Here's what I do. I find some interesting stuff off the internet, articles and sheets, and put them all together in one big chart to help create my race. (I know, exactly what you are having trouble with.) They may not suit my purpose so well by themselves, but together they do help me out...

In my stories, they don't need to speak. Sure, sometimes they do, just to make it sound fancy, but when they do they don't say some incredibly outlandish phrase. Instead, if the intent of the magic user is to ignite an object, say a tree, they just say fire very forcibly. Just plain old words...

    What do you listen to?

Lol. A world of things, methinks.

    Pantser or Plotter?

I'm going to say Pantser. I start off with a great outline, a fabulous set of characters and an amazing ending. And then I start writing. Lol definitely Pantser.

    Quick question...

I have a question about a gut wound. Generally, how long would it take for the injured person to succumb to the wound? Does time vary with location of the wound? Thanks

    When I began writing...

I'm kinda in the same boat as SergeiMeranov. I just need to force my self to sit down, and actually move the blasted pencil into some scratch marks that somewhat resemble a type of gibberish. Hey it's all good though. When I do sit down, I'm never at a loss of what to write, I have an entire...

How can I make my writing better

I agree with Skip by the way. You may think your writing is rotten, but to others it may be great and lively.
