    Making magic work in books

Let's see...my current thing is something that is kind of a HP fanfiction...except kind of not. So.... 1)Definitely inherent. 2)Hmm...non-magic outnumber magic by at least 10:1. However, magic + magic or magic + non-magic will, the vast majority of the time, equal magic. Even...

Thread problem. Don't know where else this would go sorry.

So I started a new Q & A thread. Only when someone tries to access it (it's not just me, I checked with Butterfly), it kicks you back out to the main forum. It's the "Q and A with Anthony Aldermaston..." thread. Can someone help please?

Ancient Egyptians - Cultural Origin, genetics, etc.

Mmm...I don't know how strong the evidence is but I read that the Gypsy-slur came about as a shortening of "Egyptian". That would suggest that Romani and the other traveller-race and Egyptians looked alike enough that it would be easy for a causal observer to confuse the two.

    Ask me about horses.

So if you knew about a horse that verbally objected to being mounted on the wrong side but didn't actually do anything about it. besides 'complain'....what sort of training would you expect it to have had?

Also, this might help: As you can see, we call your 'French Fries' chips. If you want the American version of chips from a Briton, ask if he has a pack of crisps. Altough, if you ask for French Fries, you might wind up with crisps since we have a brand of crisps called French Fries...

    British Slang

Yep, on a phone keypad... the only time I heard it was on holiday in America, relatives got a call from an automated system ... and I was thinking 'What the feck is a pound key?' I was familiar with the 'lb' and 'oz' for weights though.

What's a pound key ('press the pound key') anyway? This is a pound symbol: £

Be Honest: Why are you Really Not Published Yet?

Just because publishing isn't something I have any real interest in.

While we're at it, note that the Weasley twins did complete Hogwarts - NEWTS are entirely optional, just needed for a lot of jobs. Since they have enough money to start up WWW, thanks to Harry's tri-wizard winnings, they don't really need NEWTS. I see this confusion coming up a lot in the form...

Anyone else feel like they're a member of a race who are ... well.... bastards... yet?

    Humans are Terrifying

Or hey, how about our breeding experiments on wolves? Stopped certain wolves from growing up completely. Oh look, those wolves are useless now, right? Wrong. They're used for hunting, rescues, guarding livestock, helping the infirm and all manner of things. Canis Lupis Familiaris. That's a...

    Humans are Terrifying

On the gross nte, we will eat anything. Including hen menstruations (what eggs are), we deliberately rot milk and then eat it (cheese, cream, yoghurt), we also intentionally let fruit juice rot before consuming it (Cider, Perry). As for horror, how about being child-eaters? Wasp larvae is a...
