    I vote for the first one. It seems to capture a mood, while the second (the red one) is more abstract. It looks more like the cover for a school book to me.

    They look modern and clean, and I bet they work well in eBook reader displays. I like the darkest one best - Stealing Terry.

    If your background is a modern day American city, perhaps the character should be the focus. Is the character some kind of magic user? Perhaps have the character showing off their powers.
