An echo of a silent hello

Yeah, title of this thread might be a bit much. Anyway, hello!

I meant to write this hello as soon as I registered. But, I procrastinated, and planned and thought it over and, so on. Writing to others is scary. You expose yourself, flaws and everything.
I joined this community, because I am afraid, terrified even. Terrified that my skills as an aspiring writer is lacking.
All this fear is, for me at least, the sign that I need to do this. I recognize that skill can only be forged in the fires of public opinion and that if I don't face my fears I'll be trapped in the cage that is my head.

With that out of the way! I live with my daughter, a dog and a loving fiancee. I'm a scattered brained collector of projects. Currently im exploring fabric production from nettles, rust programming, wire sculpturing, writing and crocheting.

So, yeah, that is my first post. Hello

We all have flaws, no one will fault you for that. We sometimes look scary, but we love that you are here.

You write, and you learn.

Your first draft will almost certainly seem horrible...as you are writing it. Don't stop. Push on. Finish the story. (Then set it aside for a few months before rereading it. You will be surprised.)

And regardless of the edit passes (and there will be many of those), typos and inor grammar bugs will make it into the finished book. (My first few books had hundreds of these because I foolishly thought MS Word was adequate. It wasn't. Neither was the free version of Grammarly.)

Persevere.

Welcome Omnicrow. The fear is real. Many feel the same way when it comes to putting their writing out there. I certainly do. In the end, I always tell myself that the worst thing that can happen when I put my writing out there is a hurt ego. And my mind always makes it worse than it is.
