So About My Rabbit Folk?

They are about 40/60 rabbit/human respectively, the most rabbit thing about them is their legs and ears (and a bit of their face but it's still mostly flat angle like a human)

They are a Amazonian warrior tribe that can be 'both' forms of attractive (either Athletic or 'sexy' as they say) but with the caveat that they are both equally deadly in combat.

They have a crippling weakness that not many outsiders know about, but if you do know about it, you have a 50/50 shot of 'melting' them. (like when you give a dog chin scritches) As for the other reaction, we'll tell you after you wake up from your coma.

There's an 'old guard' of elders who strictly believe in the 'Warrior' Path. But More recent generations are adapting to the outside world, experimenting, etc.

Culturally it is frowned upon to use one's own body to 'trick' (Not even seduce, though that's also a concern, just like, generally being sneaky in combat) potential mates. But even the old guards recognize that yes, at the end of the day, they are freaking rabbits. Though most of them would prefer to gain a proper 'bond' with their mate either way, before attempting such silliness. Regardless of 'how' they meet.

The Important part: I'm writing/inventing the 'exiled' members of this tribe on a per character basis, trying to keep them as different from each other as possible. Not only do I not want overlap for reasons to 'leave' the tribe, I don't want to overlap character traits either.

What the question about rabbits?

I am going to steer you towards Goldie's Quotable, no 1: Words on page beats thinking about words on page.

If you are worried that it will be hard to keep track of 60+ characters, well...First, you need to start writing them for it to matter, and second, just keep a character bible. Nothing fancy is needed for that, but you could use a free tool like scrivener if you must.

Just wondering if people like the idea of the blueprints of the race/culture.
I'm a little weary of them both being able to be 'sexy' and 'warriors' (not that sexy warriors don't exist, I just mean theme wise) I don't plan to write any in any negative way I don't think.

As for actually writing them, I have written one (You've 'met' Ti chi who is one of the 'exiled' ones) and more (exiled) ones are on the way

A few of the 'sexy' ones are actually much more capable in combat than their 'warrior' Kin because they work harder to overcome the idea that they can't be both. One of them is actually 'god' like in her ability to fight, but throw a problem at her that she can't solve by beating it up and she's not sure what to do.

I think your buns sound brilliant. "At the end of the day they are freaking rabbits." is also my favorite sentence of the week. I also think that you're doing great at aiming for some sort of balance while keeping the boss.

Our buns, and the other 44 therian types, are the ways they are for terribly spoilery reasons. Very little will be revealed, when we do, but that's mostly because I am a terrible person and love watching readers twist a bit. ;)

Lizzie fought to not nibble on her thick thumbnail. Her mother had done a really beautiful job painting dainty, white flowers all over the pink of them and she had managed to hold onto the manicure for two whole days, even sleeping in her human form with her sisters, all in their fur forms, snuggled up to her sides.

The man drove in silence, as he had done since he had picked her up just outside the Warehouse District, an eagle-headed cane leaning against the console between them. Fifty dollars had gotten her into the car. The three hundred now secure in her worn purse had gotten her outside the city limits. Her mother had told her to not leave the neighborhood, to not leave the fragile protection of the circle of sisters and cousins who also walked the streets, but three hundred dollars for a single date was a lot of money. It would go a long way toward feeding her littler sisters, even after the therian wolves casually mugged her for their ‘percentage.’ She had told her sister Jane she would be gone for a bit longer than normal and joined the man in his rented SUV.

Lizzie tightened her fist in the darkness of the SUV, determined to not bite her nail. Determined to not give in to her nerves. Maybe she would be more confident if she was a wolf, with a strong body and sharp teeth and claws. But she was a rabbit, and she had none of those things. She had her kick, but she could only do it once every few hours. She could shift and be small and run fast—rabbits were excellent at hiding—but that would mean leaving the money behind. Better to just be brave and see this through. To find out what the man wanted.

Even a rabbit could be brave.

I mean I'm planning on some other animal species too (Snakes/Lamia who took up the 'warrior' path because their previous occupation couldn't be maintained once the countries got isolated) but yeah, the buns are fun. I also plan to have Bears, Dragons (Actual dragon folk, as 'dragon' is also a 'title' in my story.) and Lions (well like leopards, but the men are closer to lions)

I'm glad you like that sentence about them being 'freaking rabbits' haha. I was unsure how to phrase that part of their culture (and their culture as a whole) so I was like 'screw it we ballin' and went as honest as I could. I think it's fun about the elders. They can try to 'hide' behind being a 'strong warrior race' and they all do a fine job of that (even the ones that don't like to fight can fight pretty good) but they are not blind to the way the world sees them. Some of them grumble in frustration about it, some of em admit it with a kinky smile and a wink, others are like ? why is being a rabbit a good thing? Heh. They're all rabbits, but they all are cut from different cloths in spite of their culture. (which they all respect mind, it's just some don't have the personality for it)

Also I like Lizzie now lol she seems like a 'smort' lady.

I should mention that the 'exile' (I mentioned this in the other thread) in their culture isn't the traditional sense of the word.

It's more like sending a delinquent/disobedient child to a boarding school to 'straighten them out'

If they get 'wonder lust' about outside cultures, so be it, they will find out on their own how the world sees them.

Though curiously most of the time the elders are surprised how they are when they return from the outside world.

Not just from learning about other cultures, but also how mature they are, compared to when they 'left'
Often they still maintain being 'warriors' but they experimented and adapted to the outside world.

This is also a different spin on isolated warrior tribes. At least I think anyway. The Exiled characters are often more than welcome to return, when they're ready. But the elders want them to learn that they are needed and need to find their own way.

The ‘50/50 chance of melting them or waking up from a coma’ weakness is perfect because it keeps the cute rabbit trait without making them feel harmless
Definitely, and that's the intention, it's kind of their culture's equivalent of us humans folding with 'just the right touch' (Kind of a 'you would only do this to your girlfriend/boyfriend' kinda thing)

But otherwise, culturally frowned upon and you get a beating for doing so recklessly.

Even if you get them 'in the right mood' to get chin skritches you may end up regretting it later too.
Cause I mean, they ARE rabbits, and personality aside they will often openly let you know that once they're 'in the mood' haha.

I approve your rabbit species. I am sure others will as well.(y)
Yeah, the folks here seem to like em, you and Lowan in particular, so that's a nice confirmation.

I just gotta be cautious when writing the more 'sexy' personality ones I think. Don't want to get too 'tropey' with them since they're bunny girls. A pair of them actually wear the 'bunny outfit' as their normal outfit. But they do so because of their chosen job as ointment saleswomen.

I'm also not writing them as 'rabbit people' I've been writing them as 'people who happen to be rabbit like'

I don't know if there's a difference, personally, but I feel like there is.

The only thing I'm taking 'directly' from rabbits is well, their love of uh...putting a bun in the oven. Good luck if you romance one. They put all their stat points into 'stamina' ... lol

As said I plan a few other animal people too (though the Lamia are more mythical creature) but other than the dragons they're a work in progress.

Tropes are a waste of mental energy.

I am not sure what you need from us, but...I hereby state, and by the authority of whatever I have under MS, God, all writers and past writers, living and dead, and all readers existing today, or will ever read, you are clear to write bunny people. We welcome them into the great lexicon of things written.

Waves hand, says chant, you now have your imprimatur. Go and bear fruit.

At this point I think you're being a silly lol but yes message received(y)
as far as tropes are concerned, I don't plan on using them.
but since writing devices are considered 'tropes' regardless of if we think so or not, I'll just avoid the 'bad' ones.
