Hey all, I'm Nell, I read and write science fiction, fantasy, and romantasy. The day job has really been burning me out lately and I feel like all my works in progress are inaccessible, like that part of my brain has been switched off. I'm hoping to spark some inspiration and get my momentum back. Glad to meet you all!

Howdy Nell, Welcome here.

My day job has gotten too busy and there is no end in sight. In fact, just yesterday, I was informed that a lot of new equipment should be here by July, and it all has to go in ASAP.

I feel this year may be a bust for me writing wise. Things just wont slow down. But...I have some luxury cause I am three books ahead of the publication schedule (such as it was).

That's awesome! The "no end in sight" is certainly familiar.
I'm realizing that I prioritize everything except my own personal projects. That will have to change!

Yeah...that idea of 'pay yourself first' or 'take care of yourself' has always been a wise thing to prioritize, but always hard to do.

I've find my preference is service to others, and not to myself. And it does get old at times.

Its noon, and I am just now sneaking in some breakfast. Stuff just keeps it so I have to steal my moments.

Hello -

The rule is to write at least a little every day, even when you don't feel like it, even when you think it is horrible. Often, resolutions and resolve will manifest after a few sentences.

So true! When I can make myself do that, I usually get sucked in to whatever I'm working on.

You make writing a daily habit. Set aside a block of time for writing. In the old days, when I got stuck in the Muddy Middle, I'd take an old cooking timer, set it for an hour, nd do nothing but write until the bell rang, ignoring all plot, grammar, and character issues.

You can fix a bad draft.

You can't fix a blank page.

Hey!
Also just joined. Also get the burnt out feeling.
I think we all just need some fun, you know? Besides reading I was shocked at how little time I make for doing fun things.
