What Video Game universe would drive your protagonists insane?

If it helps, maybe keep it to games that you have played?

I mean like, imagine they're just, booped into X or Y video game, and they now have to abide by that game's rules, but they have main character (of that game) abilities still.

My RWBY Protagonist is very Tolerant of silliness, but there's a few game series that would (Probably) drive him up the wall.

In No Particular order: Mario and Luigi series (mostly due to family friendly nature, but the characters in that particular version of mario-verse would drive him insane.), Zelda Series (Particularly BOTW/TOTK), Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default. Splatoon (Again, due to the family friendly nature, not that Tobi is prone to un family friendly stuff, but he does swear when he feels the need)

My three main characters would not be having a good time in a Metroid game, especially Dread.
I don't think anyone without some form of power suit like Samus's would be happy in a metroid game.
Note that I said "like samus's" cause the ones the Galactic Federation and Space Pirates have are dang near useless.

Hrm. Honestly I'd probably say Grand Theft Auto. The meaninglessness would get to them.
And let's not forget the insanity of the custom gameplay boards, have fun surviving like 90% of those lol

They'd probably find they can jump better, and fall from greater heights...

I think the whole thing would be maddening. Imagine eating a fish to make all your cuts and bruises go away. And the armor? My babe would be like...so I can just wear that and its still the same protection? Its not very modest, but it is a lot lighter...

And what is with this fallen tree in the road? How am I supposed to get around it?

I feel like most video game NPC's would drive my protagonists insane, depending on the game.

A lot of them are made 'dumb' (Dumb is in quotes because in this instance I don't mean like, lack of brain cells) to empower the protagonist/player and make them feel awesome/epic. Particularly the games that lean a little too heavy on the 'every game could be a player's first game' logic.

That was one of my complaints with Metroid Prime 4. Loved the human characters this time, BUT they yapped too much, and one of them didn't need to do the whole gimmick of his because Samus usually did that bit herself. (Still liked him though)

Is arcade a universe? Imagine monkeys throwing barrels at them, jumping between carts to cross the street and when you challenge for a duel they start jumping around. Lot of jumping.

I think Ape Escape would drive anyone insane, especially Spectre. They wear hats, and they are monkeys. Come on. Besides that, the game is very nonlinear, where you basically grab things, not a usual game mechanic.

A game they would all agree is too boring, is Tetris. Line upon line of code, brick by boring brick. I think though, if they were stuck in Bubble Bobble, they would ask for a translation.

Anything that asks you to invert the X-Y axis. There are games that come out that are straight up carnage. Looking for loot boxes, upgrading your weapons, pure evil.
