Howdy!

Hi y'all! Just found this place from Poets & Writers list of groups, so thought I'd check it out. I write Speculative Fiction mostly. Also, lots of other stuff like Poetry, nonfiction, blah blah. I'm discovering the hell of publishing with IngramSparks vs Amazon, LOL, as I get a writing workbook uploaded. I teach writing workshops now and then, attend writers workshops, conventions, and all that good stuff. Once the workbook is up, I'll return to the Dark Fantasy I'm editing, and hopefully get that published by end of year, and get to work on an SF (I loathe the term "sci-fi" for literary forms of Spec Fic.) And lots more books and stories waiting to be written. I've got a couple of Honorable Mentions at Writers of the Future Contest, trying to break that level.

Some of my fave authors (besides the classics of Heinlein, Clark, Bradbury, Simak, Budrys, and so on) are Tchaikovsky, Gabaldon, Jodi Taylor, David Sedaris, Stephen Johnson, Brian Greene, Craig Johnson, Nancy Kress, Jack Campbell, C J Box, Feist, Scalzi, Kuang, Guy Gavriel Kay, just so many. I'm currently reading Matt Dinniman's Dungeon Crawler Carl series, Book 7 The Inevitable Ruin.

Thanks for letting me join! I look forward to chatting with y'all and learning a lot.

Howdy Patty, Welcome here.

I am without on Ingram and Amazon. I am sorting through that right now. :)

Which conventions do you attend? I keep thinking I need to go to one, but so far...its just been too much other stuff going on.

Welcome, Pat! I’m fairly new here myself and mostly working in fantasy/speculative fiction, with an unhealthy amount of worldbuilding attached to it.

Sounds like you’ve already been through quite a bit of the writing ecosystem if you’re teaching workshops, doing conventions and now wrestling with IngramSpark and Amazon. I’ve not reached the publishing stage myself yet, but everything I hear suggests that particular rabbit hole is an adventure all of its own.

Two Honorable Mentions from Writers of the Future is nothing to sniff at either. Hopefully you manage to push through that next level.

Also, Dungeon Crawler Carl keeps appearing in conversations around me lately, so I’m starting to think the universe is trying to make me read it.
