Hi guys, and thanks for having me. My name is Jay.
I've always enjoyed political thrillers, alternate realities, and fantasy books. Audio books mainly. Because of my ADHD makes it hard to sit still long enough to read a full book. Except for some reason with Tom Clancy books. I was able to sit and read everyword he ever wrote. It was weird.
I'm an avid gamer, have been all of my life as long as I can remember. I discovered Dungeons & Dragons when I was seven or eight years old, and I was hooked. The idea of telling stories and making them up. But that's pretty much where my creative side stalled. I'm a technical guy, engineer by trade.
A few years ago though, with the better... Speech-to-text, applications, and now some AI. I'm able to overcome my ADHD and get some of my stories out of my head instead of just going over them when I'm stuck in traffic or... doing something else that's boring. I'm able to brain dump and get it all out on paper. Admittedly, that's my favorite part. I have gone through editing with the first book of my series. And I thought it was done. Every time I think about it though, I have this nagging thing inside of me that says I need to go back and read it again and change the beginning. Because the beginning of the book really doesn't set the tone, and I understand that it's supposed too.
My series is an alternate universe based largely on the Bible, actually better described as an inversion of the Biblical stories. In my world, Lucifer was left alone on Earth after an event called the Great Betrayal. And... Her along with her other fallen Watchers, corrupted everything man knew, including man's recollection of the biblical events. So even religion is corrupted. The main friction point is between two archangels. One that was the first created who later turned into Lucifer. And the other was her husband before her fall. The story goes over thousands of years through real world history that I've twisted a little bit here and there in order to fit my story. Culminating in a final showdown between the two. I've not gotten to write the showdown yet, because honestly I'm having too much fun writing the build up. The backstories for the supporting cast turned into... books of their own. Well, enough material for books anyway. Maybe I'll edit them at some point though
As I'm doing this, I'm making my own writing platform. That... Is basically just a... Word processor, but... It remembers what I write, stories, facts about characters, worlds, places, events, that kind of thing. It's like an ever-evolving world Bible that I can use when moving a timeline along without forgetting what happened in the other stories that might effect, or should be referenced in what I am writing.
I also had to create my own speech-to-text application because of the way that I talk. My ADHD causes me to restart a lot of sentences, a lot of pauses. And... Normal speech to text transcribed, all of that. I spent more time editing what I spoke instead of writing. It would have been just faster to type it in the first place.
Anyway, that's a basic rundown of who I am and why I'm here. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you guys. Learning from your experiences. I dream of publishing some of my stuff at some point. The idea of people enjoying my stories is very enticing.
