A Joke Conversation in a fanfiction I'm working on got me thinking about this (Energy drinks)

The Conversation:
Ivy: This is the last time we let the child (she's not literally a child, but very child like) have energy drinks.
Tenabres: Tenabres didn't drink THAT many...only four...
Naya: FOUR? How are you not blacked out or puking your guts into a toilet right now.
Tobi: Says the addict who drinks six in a day...
Naya: Six. in a DAY. Not in one sitting.
Tobi: I think we're missing the point here...

The gag is more about the energy drink addict (Who already is 'small' in frame) panicking about the smaller still person drinking four in one sitting. But it did get me thinking.
Granted she's (the one panicking) been drinking energy drinks casually like they were water for many years, her body is used to it. The other character is seemingly younger than her and drank four in one sitting, as in, just chugged them down.

Granted it's a fictional (modern) setting so literally anything could be in those energy drinks, even magic, but as a baseline, let's consider them the equivalent of like, red bull or monster. As for the addict, she doesn't drink six in a day every day, it's more about two or (sometimes) three times a week. Little curious of any health concerns for either character at this point.

Oh magic Red Bull sounds so cool. I've seen such pretty designs for the cans, too...
I can't speak much from experience because I used to drink like...one a day over an hour or two.

But I think usually the initial concern for the smallest character would be the Crash afterwards? Maybe indigestion?

Like, I don't know what chugging four would feel like, but you'd probably feel at least sugar-sick upon drinking it, feel fine for a few hours, then get a headache, be cranky, and super tired when it wears off? Again, this is just speculation

It's a fictional universe in a modern setting, so their energy drinks could have all the 'good' stuff with none of the bad. (as far as chemicals anyway) But even then, I'm certain the sugar/caffeine would affect them the same way regardless.

As for the smallest character, she's very child like both in appearance (she looks to be about 13-15) and personality (But she's also very old, though it's not disclosed at any point how old she actually is.) her body/mind just stopped aging at one point. The universe perceives her as and treats her as a child, so she plays along, though that does lead to her being abnormally 'smart' for her age. (She has an immense amount of medical knowledge)

The older character's body is probably used to the sugar intake by now, and she's one of those 'a thousand thoughts a minute' types and has an abnormally fast metabolism so she burns up the energy quickly. The funny part is she's no where near as hyper as one of the canon characters. Giving that character a 'red bull' would be effectively the same as giving the squirrel from hoodwinked coffee. Naya is 'hyper' in the 'too many thoughts in my brain' way. Nora is hyper in the 'oh my god girl breathe when you talk' way

Gosh, if the Naya thinks that quickly, would the added sugar make her anxious? Even if it doesn't make her go faster, it might be harder to control her emotions.
Does Nora usually drink tea or coffee? I almost want to think it would have an opposite effect on her? Like, redbull has different stuff in it from coffee, so she'd behave differently, but like, is there a non-zero chance it would make her sleepy? I guess it could give her super speed instead..

I am not sure you can drink stuff like that as if it is water and remain thin, but...

Sugar and Caffeine are addictive, and affect the brain. You would likely feel it on the back end, when the caffeine wears off, shes gonna need another to stave the headaches away. Sugar is like fuel for your brain...so in combination, they both will make her more alert, and possibly more capable in her quick thinking. If it is a surge of too much all at once, probably fatigue, tiredness, headaches, and a wired feeling will follow. Maybe a feeling of illness, and revulsion towards having another. I suppose there is a level at which is messes up the blood sugar so much, one could die, but I dont know the limit on that.

Naya is very energetic/anxious as is, so it's likely that she drinks the energy drinks to keep her focused on other things rather than letting her mind wander. Though it's entirely possible that it's the energy drinks making her that hyper aware of everything. (and yes, she is very emotional and doesn't get why lol) Eventually she ditches the energy drinks that are 'bad' for you and tries to concoct one that gives the same/similar effects without side effects. She's a mad scientist (The chemist kind, not the loopy kind) who has created many potions in her own lab, so this simple would be well within her wheelhouse. I have a few potions lined up for her to try on her classmates lol some of them are a little silly though. One potion that she's a bit sheepish to test on anyone and even herself is one that's designed to temporarily make one more...shapely. The data she has on the formula says it'll work, but like, who's going to test it and risk something crazy lol

I'd imagine she'll have a point where she drinks way too much one day and realizes 'wait this stuff is bad for my health' and quits cold turkey.

People have been hospitalized for drinking too many red bull/monster in a single day. I read an article where someone had drank 15 Monsters in one day and nearly died due to it. While Naya doesn't drink that much, or that often she certainly starts to figure out that maybe the energy drinks are why she's so paranoid all the time. It takes a good talking to from her teammates that this stuff is part of why she's so hyper.
