Does aggressively flirty = 'h*rny' ?

Thought about this while discussing a couple of my characters in a family friendly discord.

To be clear, both of these characters are aggressively flirty. One of them is actually trying to find someone to....put a bun in the oven with. And the other it's more a 'game' because nobody takes her seriously. (Part of it is because of how bad she is at doing said flirting) Both of them are royalty but the one doesn't take her position as royalty seriously as she has a job as a vocalist in a band. They both certainly 'want' uhh attention ? but in very different ways.

But I dunno, as I'm writing them flirting, neither of them strike me as the 'horny' type of flirting. (Aside from light jokes but when said jokes get even a remotely positive result they just about have a conniption cause they don't know what to do when someone says 'yes' to their antics) Yes they're aggressive, but most of it is like silly pick up lines and stuff, if that makes sense.

I do wonder if the two are mutually exclusive, though. Because Characters like Brock (Pokemon) and Sanji (One Piece) and while they are particularly aggressive for the age group the shows are targeting. Neither of those strike me as 'horny' either. Sanji does go overboard with his persistence at times. (But that's one of the reasons we love him) In fact I'd compare these two (Female) to those two pretty closely, other than being women rather than men.

Flirting is fun, and helps you to get to know someone. Actually getting to the---I have to have it-- does not require much flirting anymore, just the wanting.

Yeah, ok, so the bigger problem would likely be my version of Link then.

It's a Zelda story (Obviously) and he's...not clueless but like, unaware? At the moment he doesn't recognize or understand flirtatious behavior, especially when he accidentally does it.

He'll 'flirt' back unknowingly, and both girls will be confused at someone returning their feelings. He'll stare at them blankly and go 'did I say something strange?' (Not every time cause I feel the joke would get old) Eventually He'll puzzle out that they both 'want' him (It's clear to other characters, abundantly, just not him right away) but it's going to take a while because he's an amnesiac at the moment. Even after he gets his memory back he'll be a bit of a derp.

I doesn't happen until someone takes a dare. You have to kiss the girl somewhere along the way, and that's probably when you will know the ice has broken or it hasn't. Maybe he needs a crab to sing.

I mean the one princess isn't a crab exactly but....she is a fish (The Zora can be many kinds of fish especially in newer games) well, fish person, like the ones from Ocarina of Time or Breath of The Wild. (Both of those species exist in my story)

If I had to evaluate his feelings about the two of them at present.
He finds The Zora fun/amusing to be around but doesn't fully get why. (at the moment) And 90% of that is cause he's just recovering from losing his memory.
He's met the other princess too but only briefly enough to tell that she's very....intrigued by him. He's calling it that at the moment cause they have had exactly one conversation lol

The other characters can tell the two are absolutely into him, even the Goron (Which aren't usually depicted as being very bright in that way....Some of them are in newer games, but that's been a recent change which I like)

Also Re read the bit about the crab, completely misread it haha. (In my defense I was still thinking about the zelda related stuff)

True, but it's a Teen rated story so I may have to leave it at kissing and then fade to black.
Sure doesn't help that neither of these girls know how to respond to positive return on their antics either. lol
They both kinda do it for 'fun' so they aren't expecting 'real' answers when they get them. I feel that dynamic can be comical if it isn't overplayed.

Yeah, I've experienced the 'good' flirting and the 'bad' kind of flirting, I was like 15-18 at the time and both instances made me feel awkward haha.
It's a small wonder if girls don't get awkward when guys do the flirting first, especially the aggressive school Jocks.

Girls are kind of wired to like males that are showing they can. They probably didn't mind.

Speaking mainly for myself but extrapolating to (most) other hetero-men and also including what I've observed in hetero-women... flirty is often inspired by horny but there is quite a spectrum of horniness from non-specifically playful through to specifically suggestive. The horniness and the flirting can both be ratcheted up or down depending on the response from the flirtee.

Having been many times on both sides of the equation (flirter and flirtee), over the years, I can say with some authority that either can lead quickly to the other.

If they don't expect genuine answers, how they respond when they get one they think is real but also just play or exploring (does not need to be really aiming to hurt them but sort of the same as them) Or someone that really falls for them, the genuine one. Both (or 3) are a bit dangerous to end up with a cliché rom com .

This is how I was viewing it (though not for the same reasons)
There are certainly outwardly horny ways to flirt, I'm not denying that.
But I've experienced both the Brock style pick up line flirt and the 'I'm horny turn him on plz' kind of flirt.
I do understand some overlap, that I won't deny since, what drives one to flirt to begin with is being 'drawn' to someone. (sometimes even being horny)
But I feel like there's a spectrum right?

Like there's a difference between.

and
B: [whispering sexily in ear] do you think I'm hot?
