I did a lot of worldbuilding back in the day, mostly for AD&D. I built half a dozen worlds with varying degrees of detail. But, back then, I rarely finished any stories. I drew on all that material when I dedicated myself to writing. I have a dozen books out in the world, set on three different planets, with more mentioned. And all of that old worldbuilding material? Well, a bunch of it was useful. A bunch was not. And I still had to make up a bunch of stuff on the fly.
