Kalremia and the Adversaion Chronicles

Hey All!
I'm the primary composer and co-creator of Kalremia/the Adversaion chronicles. Our fantasy world is delivered in the form of lyrics in a high concept death metal band by the same name (Adversaion).

I've been working really hard to flesh out the world and I was hoping to get some creative feedback here. Blodu!

Dejection of the Malign Tabernacle

I love planetary dynamics, and this seems very cool. I'd like to stand on a world and see it.

Two comments that I asked right away.

I think it is true, that any moon locked in orbit with a planet, no matter how far away, will affect its tides.

And, I am not sure that a nocturnal people will end up with twice as many days. They'd have to know the light/dark period is a full cycle of something. I suppose they can count it anyway they like, but I'd think they were dong a lot of extra work for nothing treating it such.

You should draw a map as well, it will make it easier to explain regions and political lines.

This is also good stuff to know for a author, but this more than is needed to create a story.

Also, Arioch is one of the Melnibonean Gods. I think people will notice that.

They way i see it, Strigoi have a day of being underground, and a night of hunting or doing whatever.

Yes and no.

Yes in the sense that everything affects everything else. A moon exerts gravity, which affects the tides. However, so do the balls in the game of pool I'm playing, so they can also be said to affect the tides. The effect just is negligible.

For a meaningful effect, the moon needs to be relatively large compared to the size of the planet and relatively close by. And in this our moon is the exception, not the rule. Jupiter for instance has plenty of moons (90-ish at the moment), but most are tiny. For comparisson, our moon weighs about 1,2% of earth, while the biggest Jupiter moon (Ganymede), which is much larger than the moon, weighs less than 0.001% of Jupiter. I doubt anyone on Jupiter would notice any effect of Ganymede on the tides, let alone the effect of one of the smaller moons.

The kicker is that this particular moon is broken. Like it’s cracked and has chunks missing from it

The way its drawn, the broken up moon is not the farthest out. Likely, this moon would be broken up and form a ring of rocks around the planet, but that also is not how its drawn. Even if the moon is broken up, if the pieces were near enough to each other, its gravity would still be about the same.

as pmmg mentions, it doesn't matter. From a distance, the effect of the gravity is the same if all the mass is concentrated in a single point, or if it's a hollow sphere, or an irregular object, or something in between. Get far enough away, and it's just a blob of mass hanging there following the same rule of gravity.

And indeed, if broken into enough small pieces, then you'd eventually end up with a ring around the planet. Which would over time slowly disappear...

This is some solid worldbuilding! You’re clearly passionate about planetary dynamics, and that’s awesome. A few thoughts:

1. Tides and moons yep, even distant moons would have *some* effect, even if it’s subtle.
2. The day/night cycle thing is tricky. Nocturnal people might not count days the same way, but if they’re advanced enough, they’d probably figure out a system that works for them.
3. A map would definitely help visualize things, it’s a great tool for both you and readers.
4. And yeah, Arioch might raise some eyebrows for Elric fans, but if it fits your world, go for it.

Overall, this is great detail, but remember story comes first. Don’t let the worldbuilding overshadow the plot!

This is such a cool concept! Combining death metal with high fantasy world-building is next-level creative. The Concept Bible looks detailed, and the music adds a whole new layer of immersion. Can’t wait to dive into Kalremia’s lore and check out the track. Keep rocking the fantasy-metal fusion, it’s epic!
