Here's a bit of trivia for you on this 25th day of April. On this same date, year unknown but in the 17th century, one Henry Hammond became the first person to receive "copy-money" which is to say money for copyright of a book. The book was Annotations on the New Testament, which can still be had, though the copyright has long since lapsed.

This tidbit courtesy of a "Book of Days" by Lippincott in 1879. The full title is Chamber's Book of Days, A Miscellany of Popular Antiquities in connection with the Calendar. I do so love old book titles that were nearly essays in themselves. Book can be found here
