Musicals?

So I've had a plot idea in mind for a few years now, and for some reason it keeps taking shape as a stage musical rather than a novel or short story. I'm a HUGE fan of musicals, but writing one poses a challenge for someone like me with no experience in that. I'm a poet, so writing lyrics and such is fine; it's the script format that's the real issue. Should I keep it as a stage musical/play and expand my boundaries, or try to rework it into a form I'm more comfortable with?

It's your work; do wat u want with it. If it feels more natural in your mind to be a stage musical, then do it. Nothing is stopping you.
