The first hero, Liya.

back when Humanity confined itself to the first Inhabited Continent of the world, our first hero ever was born. back when the divine ruled directly, and humanity was only beginning, Liya was born. we do not know her identifying last name, only her first. Liya saw magic as a tool that the divine used to control humanity. as she matured and grew, that belief inflamed into war, and the divine eventually left of their own accord, leaving a mark of magic in the western highlands. they would return later. for an unknown amount of years after the war, she lived happily, gaining a husband and daughter. but one enemy remained. years ago, the divine decided to gift humanity magic, starting with one person. fiercely loyal to the divine, and the first human ever to have magic, this unknown person, who had survived the war, decided that revenge was the best path. they traveled to an outpost in which liya's husband was staying, and massacred all who were there with him. we believe that the battle took place in a ruined, but strangely intact stone building in the Blacklands of the shadow tribe, of the western highlands. this person stayed there after, waiting for Liya. eventually, Liya would arrive, and kill this person, but she had lost her husband to them, and would mourn that for the rest of her life.
