I find myself attracted to Chuck Wendig's weekly challenges at his site TERRIBLEMINDS: Chuck Wendig, Freelance Penmonkey | Chuck Wendig: Freelance Penmonkey
I was wondering if we could try something similar here? You don't necessarily have to post your story (unless you want to) but I like the idea of having a weekly challenge to create something as it sometimes sparks ideas for short stories and the like for me.
Would anyone want to join me in creating something on the Challenge forum, maybe just post it as Mythic Scribes Weekly Challenge. And then have people either post their stories there or report their progress (failed miserably, it didn't work, it motivated me to finish something, etc.) If you joined me, then we'd each have a designated week to come up with a challenge to post. The challenge could be easy like "Write a scene in which someone dies" or something more difficult like "Write a scene in which there is literally an elephant in the room."
For me, these kind of challenges really get me thinking and give me a healthy, quick distraction from my main projects if just for a minute.
So what do you think? It doesn't have to be a real heavy sort of thing, just a weekly challenge that people can join if they'd like to.
