From what I understand, it's at least in part trying to defend writers from AI, but I haven't dug deep. I think it also allows AI as an assistant to the writer while trying to keep software companies from being able to take a cut of any monetary value created by the AI, or writing credit.

As AI is becoming more ubiquitous, the Writers Guild is proposing some guidelines for how to regulate it and avoid writers being cut out of the creation of TV and film.
