What is your society's attitude towards parricide?

That is, killing of one or both of a child's parents by the child. (The word "parricide" can refer to other close relatives as well, but that's not what I primarily intend to discuss. Though you can talk about other close relatives as well, if you want to.)

Long story short, I think many societies had a negative attitude towards the killing of parents by their child. Let's hear about your world.

I think in my world there are a few society’s I’m going to make that the kids actually are programmed to kill and feed off their parents when they reach a certain age. Their religion will also support this as well as castrating any members of society who don’t have kids. The cycle continues otherwise un adultered to normal human life. Thy would just never have any knowledge of it being a wrong practice... make sense?

I don't know of a human society that had a positive attitude towards the killing parents. There might some that accepted and even appreciated politically expedient moves but not a general societal positive attitude.
As for my own work... I don't think there has been a story need for me to work it out. But I'd guess it would be treated as murder.
Unless you were killing a king/Emperor and claimed the throne, in which case it would be called "removing the usurper and restoring the rightful heir to the throne".

I meant to say a more negative attitude than other forms of murder.

Killing of parents is always regarded as being worse than other kinds of murder. That's across the board.

Did you have something else in mind? How would you use that in a story?

What about other forms of murder? Is the punishment the same?

Typically no, as a child is seen to have betrayed the trust and investment of their parents. As this is elf society we're talking about, it takes 80 years just to make a newborn baby. An additional 500 years to get them to the mental and physical age of a human 5 year old. So the child will be considered evil and then executed quietly. So it looks like the whole family was killed tragically.

That's too bad. Ideas only live within stories. An idea without a story is like a word without a sentence. It exists. If you try it, you'll find that the writing of a story engenders more ideas.
