The Ten Thousand Doors of January

Just finished this book, by Alix Harrow. What a lovely read, something very different for a change. Some great characters, and a wonderful concept. I don’t quite know how to describe it, but I think if you like the Night Circus, you’d like this, same kind of mystical, winding plot, where you’re not quite sure what’s going on.

Ten Thousand Doors of January was one of my favorite reads of the last year. It's a book I'll reference when talking about beginnings and voice. Strong and sure of itself right from the start and how it unfolds such a wonderfully intricate tale really surprised me. And yes, it does have a Night Circus feel in ways. I'm currently reading Harrow's newest, The Once and Future Witches, which likewise starts very strong. Alix is quite the story weaver. . .

I have that on hold at the library. It’ll be a while, there’s a lot of people ahead of me. Really looking forward to it.
