And for those wondering how it went. I now have an almost complete novel (85000 words), all that's needed is a few connecting scenes and varipous background details. I'm shattered, but pleased.

Yes, it was 85000 words in one night, for a completely new story. There's a few things to add which will add another 15000 words or so, but I know where those bits will go.

I was (am) working on the fifth novel, but this sixth novel just turned up in my mind and I had to write it.

It's the second time I've done something like this, and it happens when my inspiration and my writing are really on song. I'm not concious of concentrating, nor am I concious of time when I'm writing like this, I just write. I think it's a hangover from my army days. The only thing I need to prepare is food (a pile of sandwhiches and some fruit) and drink (several bottles of water and a big flask of coffee) and I'm good to go.

I think my record is probably something around 5000... That would be a tremendous feat for me. Maybe in a weekend if I had a lot of inspiration and no interruptions, but I feel I would be dwarfed.

Good job to you. Its nice to have one in hand and not one in your head. Inspiration is a good thing.

At this point I should probably admit that it's going to take me three or four days to correct the spelling and grammar. My dyslexia software can't keep up when I'm writing that fast, and it will be a couple of days before I've recovered enough to start correcting the text. Being dyslexic corrections take a lot of concentration even with the help of specialist software so I need to be well rested before starting that. Corrections like that also aren't normally something I need to do, because I don't usually write that fast and so the software can keep up.

Bear in mind here that I'm using specialised dyslexia support software to correct my spelling and grammar. That means the software is adapted for the way my dyslexia presents itself in my writing, so identifying and correcting errors is fairly quick. Its also worth pointing out that I won't be re-writing anything, given that I'm a one pass writer.

As for that software, it costs six times as much as Microsft Office - and it's worth every penny.

I am still, to use a British/Australian expression, absolutely knackered. Not only mentally exhausted, but also physically exhausted. My fingers, hands and wrists are sore, and my eyes are so tired I'm wearting glasses. I really should know better than to do this sort of thing, but once I'm on the roll I can't stop. I think the novel is worth it (or will be), but I haven't dared start the re-read.
