Some people assume that because I am vehemently opposed to fan FICTION being posted all over the Internet, I must also be opposed to fan ART inspired by written works. So, to prove that it isn't true... here's an OLD example of fan art by me. (Yes, that rose is silver. Figure it out for yourself.) I painted this when I was 16, so... about a quarter of a century ago. I'd just read a fantasy novel titled SIGN OF CHAOS, and I was slightly obsessed with a minor scene in it. Not all of this image is meant to be taken literally: the rose and the candles are accurate, but the books are my own addition, alluding to the book from which the scene comes. The style is deliberately somewhat flat to resemble medieval paintings, and it is painted on a smoothed board rather than canvas for the same reason. (And you betcha I studied 'the color of a candle flame in an otherwise dark room' really close in an attempt to get that right. :) )
