Svrtnsse, I agree. I started the whole thread, because I keep reading on various sites that this is how it should be done. First marketing, then writing. I was curious to see how many here agree. Apparently not many. :) Understandable.

Dark One, Again, I totally agree. The title of my thread is meant sarcastically. You are absolutely right, and it wouldn't feel right to advertise a future book. At least not to me. Besides, I'm absolutely sure that only known authors could do it.

James, that sounds great, but I don't think you can promote other authors before you make a name for yourself. That's just a general remark, I'm not saying that you can't do it.

Dark One, I'm not quite sure how to interpret your post. On the one hand it's what I've been saying all the time, on the other hand it sounds a bit accusatory :)

Thanks and you are right. I'm doing those things as well. I have my website up and running and ofc I have FB pages for both the book, and myself (author page). I also joined the 'Books and Writers' group on LinedIn, which I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Thank you all. The drop-shadow will go. :) The lens flare I really need to light up the cover. Besides, there are lots of lights and rays in the story. I didn't go for any Mardi Gras theme, but there is an event in the book that is reminiscent of the Venetian Carnival (hence the Venetian mask).

Thanks for the quick reply. I know that the small text is a bit blurry. I didn't want to have a more elaborate font, but this one looked rather plain without the drop-shadow. Initially I didn't have the lens flare, but the picture was much darker without it. Thanks again :)
