I can't wait for it. I think I might have to dig my copy out.

I'm watching Sweeney Todd (the one with George Hearn), and talking to my other half on facebook.

Emotional tie to a character who never appears

The blossoming relationship you mentioned could evoke memories of her and her dead boyfriend when they were at the start of their relationship perhaps?

    what are you doing

I'm listening to rugby highlights, checking out a random name generator and going over the new and improved plot I've started writing. It's only a few subtle changes but they mean a lot to me.

    Hi Everyone

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've made a start, I'm not too sure about the beginning now but I'm going to keep going. I've also got character bio's for the lead, and two other central characters. I've got one more to write and I've already got a solid enough idea of them so that shouldn't...

How do you *spark* your ideas, and creat your stories?

Characters tend to come to me more or less fully formed, I role play them for a bit and see where they end up. That's how the story tends to begin, and then I just have the joys of trying to work out the middle and the end. Sometimes I'll be bumming around with friends and come up with an idea...

    Names?

I've been looking at name generators for some of my characters, others are more usual reflecting on where they were born and grew up. The seventh Sanctum name generator isn't bad.

Wanting to do something a bit different

The only reason I didn't want to use faries was that they weren't quite grabbing me, they fitted, they just didn't feel right. The race isn't as important as the characters themselves. I do really like the Scandanavian tolls, I'll be researching them for something at a later date if not for this!

is it best for a writer to stick to one or two genres?

I think it depends on the writer, if they have the inspiration to write in the completely different genres and they can make it work then all the power to them. I'm not sure if I could. But I would agree that if they were going to get them published definately consider a different pen name.

Wanting to do something a bit different

I'm not just adding them to add another race, they do have a reason for being in the story. It is a romance between a werewolf and a woman from a completely different race, I was thinking fairy (based on the old British fairy traditions) but I just thought I'd rather go for something completely...

    handwritten (just curious)

I pretty much write everything. Eventually the story itself will be typed up. My short stories are always handwritten, and never seem to get typed up.

    Hi Everyone

At the moment I'm just doing writing exercises while I research just to get back into the habit of writing again. I usually just go charging in and start writing and don't get anywhere, so a full plot, and research before I make a start this time.

Wanting to do something a bit different

I'm just starting to put together the races I want to use in my novel, and I was going to use the fairy race, but they just aren't gelling with me. Everything I have come up with just feels a bit too Merry Gentry to me, and as much as I love those books I want to do something more original. So I...

    Hi Everyone

Hi everyone, it's great to meet you all. I've been trying to write a novel for ages but never manage to get past the first few pages, but since getting signed off of work figured this was the perfect opportunity to really put the effort in and work on one. My love for fantasy begain with the...
