Maybe you didn't know who the meteors were targeting, and that's part of what made it scary. Maybe it felt random, but one too many coincidences (or last-minute swerves to hit someone who tried to dodge) to really make much sense. also, yes, if you feel this calling to you, write a story :D
I've been having trouble writing slower sections of my novel. I can write the big, dramatic moments with no problems; but the slower, less important moments were my protagonists and their allies get to rest and regroup without any groundbreaking information being revealed or life-changing...
I don't think I'm looking for anything in particular here, if I'm honest. Just been thinking about my own villain a bit, and trying to piece together the best narrative outcome for her and my protagonists. For me, I'm probably going to redeem her since she doesn't understand the full...
this is a really interesting concept, so first of all thank you for sharing.
I haven't read through all the replies yet, but something I think that may make sense for your story would be focusing less on the antagonists themselves and more on the people they corrupt. Perhaps your MCs could...
After reading a lot of these responses, I've been seeing a lot of character/mental consequences for shapeshifters. One less serious caveat to shapeshifting is how your things go with you. Do your character's clothes melt into their animal form too? do their backpacks and tools/items/weapons...
My best advice is to try and look through the eyes of your character. is your idea more of a wide-shot of an area, or an intense moment between your characters? Maybe if you're struggling to write it as a narrator, try writing (or at least thinking through) it in first-person through the eyes of...
You know you're a writer when you're stuck on a scene so you ask your friends "Hypothetically, if you were to try and take down a tyrant princess, how would you do it?" just to ignore their ideas and come up with your own because they only told you to "use a gun."
I was talking through some details of my book with a friend of mine, and we ended up deep in the world building plot bunnies surrounding it. We were talking about motivations and goals for my characters, and she brought up SEVERAL interesting things I never considered.
First, how my Antagonist...
Hi! I haven't really been active in a while, but I haven't seen this question yet so I thought I may as well ask it.
There's a lot of discussion on main protagonists and villains, for good reason too. They're the ones the story mainly focuses on and (more often than not) are the ones driving...
Oh I absolutely Daydream. Once when I was little, I had a daydream that I could literally travel to other worlds (basically reality shifting, but I didn’t know there was a name for that at the time.) I was so convinced that I made a bunch of my friends that I could do it, and then they began to...
huh, that's actually really interesting. Honestly more morally grey characters probably would benefit my story, since the idea is kinda adult minds in a kid's world. I'll think about it a bit, thank you!
In my novel, the main villain remains faceless for the majority of the book, but is later revealed to be extremely important to one of my protagonists. She is very child-like in nature, and has taken over as a tyrant princess. One of her biggest flaws is that she doesn’t know she’s doing...
Ladies and Gentlemen, those in between and around, everywhere, or nowhere at all, welcome to the show.
I’m Empathy, and I’m an aspiring author. I like fantasy, fiction, mythology… a lot of different genres. I’ve got several projects in progress, but I’m currently trying to focus on my one...
