How to get back your spark?

I find that just forcing myself to write a little on my wip, and to journal almost every day, gets me motivated to keep going.

    Hello all

Nice to meet you. Welcome! I have always felt more at home in my writing than in the real world. It's a great way to express yourself. Hope to get to know you more.

    A wild writer appears

Those demons just visited me in July and a few weeks ago I sent them packing yet again. I'm sure they will be back someday, but their opinions get less persuasive each time they come around. Most likely because I have matured as a person and as a writer. Welcome! And best of luck to you. The...

    Writing Software?

New Novelist does sound pretty amazing, and the read back function is probably what will eventually win me over. Until then I started using StoryBox and I LOVE it. I love being able to type my document and then highlight the name of the new character I just wrote about and click a button to add...

How did you get through 'tough' scenes?

I have yet to experience any of this, maybe because I am such a plan ahead person. It's probable that I will sometime though. Great advice from all. Thanks.

    Silencing Your Internal Editor

My internal editors point of view is this... I can stop at the end of each chapter and rework this until I am fairly satisfied, or I can wait 'til the whole thing is done and then it's another big daunting task. Smaller chunks win every time. I don't consider the chapter by chapter a full new...

    Nom de Plume

@ starconstant ...all of that makes perfect sense. I have never thought of it in that way before. Thanks.

    Sensitive Male Heroes

Too sensitive and you get a character that is not believable, but I think building up a complex character with hints of this and that will make them dynamic.

Pop culture in an epic fantasy?

With the right setting it could work but as stated before, it goes in and out of style so quickly. You never know without testing the waters with different situations.

    Nom de Plume

Before I got engaged I hated my last name. Now, when I get married next year, I will use my real last name. Currently unpublished as I am...I will have to decide if I want to use my real first name or not when the time is right.

    NaNoWriMo Novel Ideas

@ pskelding....I am 99% sure I will give it a go. I have utter faith that I can do it, because 1k to 1500 words already come fairly easily to me right now in my schedule. It would just require a little extra push, and forcing myself not to edit as I go.

    NaNoWriMo Novel Ideas

AAAARRRRRGGG!!!! NaNoWriMo is haunting me. To do or not to do. I have the perfect idea, but, I am obsessed with revising as I go. I cant write a whole first draft without stopping. That would KILL me. So, I would have to try soo much harder. The idea is a magic council where each color...

    Your Writing Station

I have both desktop and laptop. Prefer the laptop for portability. Sometimes finding a quiet happy place gets difficult.
