    An uncrossable ocean

I think what Scribe Lord was referring to was tidal forces. Multiple moons can create much larger extremes than what we see on earth, especially during times that they all align with each other, the planet and the sun. Not to mention the hell they would play with tectonic forces - especially the...

    An uncrossable ocean

Four things come to mind: 1) Sea Monsters! 2) Maelstroms 3) The end of the world. In other words your world is flat(ish) and the ocean just drops off into outer space, the ether, etc. 4) You actually can cross it, but no body ever comes back because it's just so great "over there" or the...

    Not Your Typical Hero

Sounds like you are describing the great apes. You may want to look up Dian Fossey's work (ala Gorillas in the Mist) and see what are the tribal/family dynamics. I'm not suggesting you make them apes, but there might be some nuggets there you can use.

    Not Your Typical Hero

If you want us (the readers) to empathize with your MC give him some traits we can empathize with. Is he a family guy? Is he honorable/ethical? Does he brood over the things which are black-and-white wrong? You may want to think along the lines of the more empathetic mobsters of modern TV...

    Try reading some Michael Moorcock.

    Pacing

There's some good tips here, but I would add READ IT OUT LOUD! When you do, you'll feel the places where it drags/lags or just poops out. Also, if you become excited during the action scenes, perhaps your pulse and breathing quickens you're doing it right. If you don't feel it when you read...

If anyones willing to give ideas... 'cause I need them...

I too love world building. The above advice is a very good start. Anything you'd like to run by me is fine. I'll give you my honest opinion and/or gut reaction as time allows. Best wishes and better adventures, KC

Non-silly fantasy Names for non-humans (specifically orcs).

You really aught to define the orc culture down to a language. I'm not saying that you have to create an entirely new language, but figure out what their cultural biases are. Is there a traditional way to name children? Do they get a new name when they become adults - pass a rite of passage...

    Need help with a scene.

Mr. Blade, I think it is very important that you figure out who has the most at stake in the scene and play it out through that POV. If you decide you need to break down the battle into mulitple scenes, then figure out who has the most at stake in each. More than likely the character you pick...
