    Blank Heros

I think that this has become a conversation about diversity and inclusivity more than the original post. I fully understand that everyone has experiences and the world is viewed through the intricate sense of the person living. But I am still interested in knowing how to create a interesting...

Creative future names for people, cities, spies or sentient artificial intelligence.

I find that I have fun making names that are driven from things that are common. I will create names from common cities and change the letters to make a fantasy name. Sacramento = Saicon. Boom! Now I have Knight character. Tallahasse=Tahlesse Pow! Magic Caster.

Thank you for the comment, but I am not sure at what point you are trying to make. Your opinion seem to be all over the place and is hard to gain any constructive feedback in regards to the conversation at hand. I am simply trying to find out if other writers do this, how they go about it and if...

I am writing my characters this way so that they are judged by the content of their character. Their personalities are what shape them. Not the color of their skin. I think that framing that will help readers relate more and are able to see themselves in the actions and decisions of the...

Do you have a 'favorite' archetype? (both to write and to read)

I am partial to flawed hero/heroines. Their mistakes are often the best lessons or lead them to interesting results.

Thank you for the feedback. I feel better about writing characters that are more representative of myself and my partner. Those who don't fit into the "norm" and are labeled as "other". This gives me more direction on how to add more aspects of myself into them, so I can build more solid and...

Not sure about the romance novel stuff. For the most part I avoid skin color but give the reader a lot as to who the MC is a person. The reader is giving introspection to the thoughts of the MC and are able to see this line of thinking. Giving the reader of his view of the world in front of him.

Thank for your feedback and the sources that you offered, they were quite insightful. I suppose that I should further explain that in the realm of this story, the people are relatively new to the land in comparison to some of the other creatures that inhabit the world and have not yet left their...

    Blank Heros

I have been writing a story for a while now, new world, creatures, gods ext. However I find that when I write the characters of the story, I give them fulfilling personalities but am vague on their physical characteristics. I also use and original naming method to further neutralize the...

Is Killing the main character ok?

I think that killing the main character is something that has to serve a purpose to the story itself as well as have a descent mark of closure for the reader. I just wrote my first novel and struggled with killing the main character. I had even written a solid ending where he dies. But I felt...

I am an aspiring author and I have just completed the first novel of a four book series. Noting that I have not been published before and am exploring different avenues to do so. I am lucky in that I was able to retire early in life and decided to sit and write my first book. I have alway been a...
