That's actually a very good point - I'm a university student too and completely forgot about the online library account! I had never ventured to the history section as I'm a science major (completely different topics, I know). Thanks for that!
I am currently interested in writing a novel set in 16th Century Venice, and am particularly interested to find information about the history of this period, the culture and most importantly, their beliefs in religion and witchcraft (the latter is something I would like to focus on).
I...
This question is something I would love help on too - I am interested in researching history for my novel and wish to make it as accurate as possible, but don't know where to start.
Thanks :D
I understand what you mean. That was what I was trying to allude to but my fuzzy brain wouldn't work at that moment, lol. I like how you said that 'she doesn't define herself according to who she is in love with, but by who she is and who she wants to be'. I think that's what these paranormal...
I'm not that quite disciplined either. I get home from uni and study and catch up and whatnot, and that's tiring. I try and write at least 500 words when I do get time to write but then I've discovered when I'm pushing myself too hard, my writing becomes quite bad and strained.
I get that way too - both feeling that it's pointless and creative ADD. Phil the Drill, I might try that and see how it goes :)
For me, when I look at the YA market that have traces of paranormal/fantasy in them (as those books are what I want to write), I swing both ways (lol). I get...
I know this question is one that is frequently asked but what's your preference and why?
I'm currently writing a piece in 1st person because I wanted to get into the character's head and find her voice...however, even since an incident in high school where one of my cruel English teachers...
I prefer reading novels but if a short story comes my way, I wouldn't pass it.
What I do (or try to do, I haven't had time for it yet) is when I'm writing a novel, I write a short story first, maybe to provide a backdrop on the character so I can get the feel for him/her as well as maybe the...
Just another introduction post by a noob ^^ I came from NaNoWriMo.
Ummm, I don't know what else to write, hahaha :)
Some random facts then:
- I live in Australia (where some people are under the impression we have kangaroos as pets...nope, I don't have a pet kangaroo. Sorry to...
I find Writing Excuses occasionally useful. It's a ~15 minute podcast where they basically discuss various topics on writing etc. It's run by Brandon Sanderson, Howard Tayler and Dan Wells.
Holly Lisle also provides some classes and guides. I've personally bought a couple of her 'how-to's'...
Oh gosh! I have 'creative ADD' as well, hahaha! I unfortunately haven't learnt how to drop this habit yet, so therefore I have many ideas floating around and no completed manuscripts *sigh*.
I've read all 3 books and don't mind it. Upon reflection on the comments people made, it is true that it's like a Twillight (not in terms of plot). I don't think it's anything mind-blowing though and is a little cliched but I did enjoy Eragon and Sapphira's relationship :)
