How would you describe this character's personality?

I tend to agree that the third dude is a dick, but for the other two you might try searching through TvTropes.org Is fairly comprehensive when it comes to character descriptions and such. Good luck.

    Latin translation help

I haven't done Latin in many years (it was obligatory in my 'middle school'), but initio strikes me as more of a beginning word, whereas principio seems like it would mean beginning too but as in like 'first'. As I say, I could be wrong, but in Italian 'inizio' is begin and principio is primary...

    Reasons to be at court.

I'm not an expert, by far, this is just my two cents. The way I usually break down my courts is this; Empires/Large Kingdoms - assuming it's composed of a multitude of both conquered and peaceably-acquired nations, there would be a small-to-medium-sized party per nation at any given time...

Five Reasons to Cast Your Novel

Meh. For personality I find one picture can be enough, and the rest tends to follow fairly naturally. Like these: Oraine Barrett Egyptian lady Blondie For all three of them I just did a generic search - eg. 'black male model', etc. The pictures are good ones and somewhat artistic, so...

Five Reasons to Cast Your Novel

I tend to agree with Mythopoet. My story has African and Middle Eastern looking people and, although more difficult, when looking for references on thew Internet it seems to work quite well to just type in 'North African man' or 'beautiful Iraqi woman' than try to find a specific person to base...

    An MC with a Stutter

I would make it so that it's not really too bad/noticeable until he's stressed, and obviously not put it in his thoughts.

How to make a character different from, but not better than, the MC

Ideally, I think each character should be performing some distinct role in your tale. As Steerpike said, the main character should be the one driving the plot, but no character is an island, so to speak, and so the secondary characters should be performing their own tasks/roles/etc. Say your...

Looking for an online critique partner

Awesome, thanks so much! That sounds perfect. I prefer more critical over less, and I can moderate my critical-ness from gentle to blistering, depending on what you prefer, so it should work well. I just got back from holiday, but I'll PM you in the morning. :)

    Stuff n Things

Thanks! She's a character of mine from my wip novel, so she's pretty much my favourite too. :P I can't remember, but I'm 99% sure it was done with a Photoshop brush. I work in ridiculously huge files, so the chances of me being bothered to draw each flake individually are slim to none. As for...

    Stuff n Things

There is always time to improve. I hope to be as good as John Howe one day (I hope that's not hubris, he's amazing). CS6 is incredibly stupid compared to previous versions. They keep rearranging things, it makes it very difficult to keep track of where everything is. I thought they'd chopped...

    Hello!

Thank you! I'm definitely feeling like I might stick around. There is everything here! I wish I'd found this site years ago. :)

    Stuff n Things

Thank you! For the digital ones, mostly yes. If I do a sketch, it's usually either a quick one on paper with a 3B, 4B, or 5B greylead (depending on how loose it is), or I sketch in PaintTool SAI. They are, of course, with a Wacom tablet. I think I would go insane trying to paint with a mouse.

    Stuff n Things

Most of these are WiPs, since I took a huge break from art and have only just started getting back into it, but I'll update or replace them when they're done. I think the second one only needs a few little tweaks and touches. If you want me to do an art thing for you, I am happy to, but requests...

    Hello!

Epic. I do love discussing worldbuilding with like-minded souls - possibly the only addiction I never intend to quit. I must say, I am already enjoying the worldbuilding diversity. I look forward to contributing. -Griff
