I doubt that I can add much to this conversation that hasn't already been said by the above writers of awesomeness.
So I'll just find a random quote from the internets:
Modest doubt is called the beacon of the wise.

I've played the Warhammer 40k computer strategy games before and have read snippets of stories. Such an epic universe to draw inspiration from. Welcome to the forums! I look forward to seeing your writing :)
Grats on being published; that's further than most of us have gotten. :)
I agree that wasn't exactly the best way to be introduced to the forums. I'll try to make up for it by yelling in bold:
Welcome to the Forums!
I think you could use all of these forms of magic in your story (or stories) as long as you find a way to introduce them slowly, one at a time so it doesn't overwhelm the reader with information. If your hero is on a journey of some sort, he could encounter different cultures along his path...
I'm glad to be joining this forum.
I've been semi-interested in writing fantasy for a few years now but lately I've become more serious about it. I hope to improve on my current skillset until I'm good enough to have a chance at being published. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's stories...

It sounds like a very interesting origin story for a main character (though I would be careful that it doesn't turn into a run-of-the-mill vengeance story against those peers that assaulted him). The only part that I was confused about: what is it that makes the protagonist an apostate when his...
I've always loved a good, badass dwarf willing to stand against hordes of underground critters to defend his mountain homeland. Or loch.
But I do feel that unless you want a reader to immediately think "meh, cliche" you have to do something original with dwarves to make them your own. I think...
Another thing you mentioned in your post is if all you need is the mainland plotted. I would think that it all you need. Just plotting out what you specifically plan to use in the story is a good way to go. It gives the world some mystery and leaves you some flexibility if sometime later you'd...

Overall I like where you're going with this magic system : )
I definitely like the idea of the Sightless and can imagine some great stories and characters coming from that. One potential idea may be a faction, guild, or single (probably bad guy) person who invents a way to use...
