Do you create a backstory for your characters?

Yes, I do create a backstory for my character cast. It both helps me define their experience, talents and weaknesses, their motivation, and why they are where they are at this time.

Writing Lore - Looking for feedback on a small text

It is indeed, and thank you. And good luck to you as well :)

Writing Lore - Looking for feedback on a small text

I agree, there should be a story to it. And there is, it is just a bit more complicated than that. If you have any experience with Elder Scrolls lore, you should have a fair idea of how I want to present my lore. Subjective, questionable, speculative, requires context to make sense.

Writing Lore - Looking for feedback on a small text

Well, that is not the point of it, in the sense that it is not a direct part of the stories set in the world. This is a part of building the world itself, "extended lore" if you will, much like there is much more to Middle Earth than The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings than the books themselves...

    Hello from Norway

Thank you, I hope I do. Accidently, or to make me think? Anyway, hello and thank you for the welcome. Thank you. Well, in a way you did include the reference, so there is that ;)

    Is Your Character Too Awesome?

Yeah, I got the impression that many non-Mary Sue characters would be classified as such under this test. And the character I fed into it, which is designed to be pretty powerful(important background character with a lot of strings attached), was merely an undecided on that list. My weaker...

    Looking for Critique Partner(s)

I'm game for a mutually beneficial partnership, and I am not bothered by not having a "words per day" commitment(I happen to prefer it).

    Your longest serving character?

My entire world is rather young, only a year old, and there are two characters who can compete for the oldest, in the sense of when I created them; Serenus, the Priest of Etram, and Samuel Octavien, a nobleman with a lot of strings attached. If by age itself, it is definetly Samuel Octavien...

Why use D&D races in our stories?

I am far from an expert about these things, but I am under the impression that this depends on how you present them. If you present them as cruel and "simply" an enemy or as a direct ripoff of the D&D version, then I would agree. However, if you take your own spin at them I am sure people will...

Writing Lore - Looking for feedback on a small text

I am writing a text that is a part of the lore for my universe, and I was hoping for some feedback. Keep in mind, this text might be a little confusing. The reasons for that is explained in the text itself. Hope you enjoy the read. Also, the parts in italic is the commentaries of the author...

    Hello from Norway

Hello, my name is Tommy, but you can just call me T or Tdroid. I am just a guy who loves to write fantasy, so this site looked appealing. Now all I need is some people on here to talk to.

Skyrim - tell us about your character

Currently I am playing a Nord Crusader who focuses on Heavy Armor, Two-Handed and Restoration with Smithing, Destruction and Block as side skills. He wears a simple suit of Steel Plate Armor and wields a Steel Warhammer, despite being level 24. To augment his weak melee weapon, he wears a...

    Skyrim Races vs Archetypes

An interesting read and I agree with most all of it. Too bad it isn't a The Elder Scrolls Races vs Archetypes thread instead of a Skyrim one thought, it would have given more material to work with(the three last games at least would provide good information. The earlierst and spin-offs have less...

    Why are RPGs so popular?

The reason I like RPGs is that I get to create my own character with their own stories and to set them loose in a world to see where they go, at least in the case with TES. Other RPGs like Dragon Age: Origins who have more fixed stories, they are still telling a story I am interested in and they...
