Hello fellow writers,

I’m new here, so please forgive me if I stumble through this a bit. I’m a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy, and after years of carrying an idea in my mind, I’ve finally begun writing the fantasy story that’s lived in me since I was young.

This project means a lot not just as a creative outlet, but as something that’s helped me reconnect with imagination, discipline, and hope. I wanted to share the concept of my novel to see how it resonates with other fantasy lovers and writers. I’m still learning the craft, but I’m passionate about building a world that feels rich, emotional, and full of heart.

Any thoughts, critiques, or encouragement are welcome I’m just excited (and honestly a little nervous) to finally put my story out there.

Welcome, and congratulations on kicking this off. It's going to be a great journey, promise.

About posting is... just go for it! We all know how it feels to put our work in front of other, so you're among friends.

Welcome, and don't be nervous (we all were to start). Every finished novel was at one point an idea that someone had in their mind. I Look forward to hearing more about it, and about your progress on the long journey to holding your idea in your hands in paper form.

Here it is let me know what you guys think.

Synopsis:

In a world once united by light, the Obsidian Heart an ancient force of creation and corruption awakens to plunge the realms into chaos. When a kingdom falls overnight and a hero succumbs to darkness, two souls rise from the ashes: Nael , a warrior torn between grief and destiny, and Kaelen , a survivor haunted by the ruin of Velmyr. Guided by the Archmage and driven by loss, they must confront the corrupted echoes of those they once loved and the shadows that dwell within themselves. As armies march and gods stir from their long silence, the balance between light and darkness hangs by a thread and the final battle may decide not only their world’s fate, but the meaning of hope itself.

Sounds interesting, all sorts of ways you could take a story from that set up. The struggle between light and dark is always popular if it's done well and has some new element to add.

You are correct and it does, would you like to see the opening I am working on?
