Hi, I'm Casval! I've been writing for most of my life, but my only published works are ghost written "auto"biographies and dry business copy. Those jobs dried up in our new technological age, and while money's tight, it's given me a good excuse to return to my roots and write the stories I have a passion for: fantasy and science fiction novels!
Once upon a time (a decade or so ago), I frequented this forum. I thought I'd visit my old haunt and bask in the Scribes vibes while I'm returning to writing fantasy too.
My current WIP is still mostly worldbuilding notes and a rough draft of the first couple of chapters, but it's an odd mix of my long-stewing meditations on 'The Scouring of the Shire' and a lesbian romance between a hobbitish butch Gerrard Winstanley and a Shelobian spider lady. I'm stuck on the wording for the title -- something along the lines of 'A Sorrel Midst The Cuckoopints', but I'm not fond of 'midst' and most other rewordings I've considered get too... wordy, haha, so feel free to suggest something better!
And for a little about me, I'm in my mid-30s and was writing for a living until recently. I have a couple of cats and a darling wife. My favorite fiction writers are Michael Moorcock, J. G. Ballard, Nalo Hopkinson, Ursula K. Le Guin, Clive Barker, Yoshiyuki Tomino, John Wyndham, Dashiell Hammett, Nicola Griffith, and Sarah Waters. And I love Beowulf!
