A Certain Magitech Theocracy

Just looking for a little feedback a on few of ideas.

A heroine in my setting lives in a Megitch theocracy that happens to be at war with a magocracy.

According to the religion's doctrine the discovery of magic anahilited all reality. Existence only continues because a group of magi-technician through their enlightened science created a cosmic egg, a feat that even the rampaging Mages couldn't archive. When reality began to give out and dissolve back into the primeval-chaos the the cosmic-egg was "hatched" to replace it. With in this egg was the germ to recreate all sapient life free of magic. However the last surviving mages while they couldn't physically breach the egg where at the cost of their power and existence where able to touch the germ and wright magic into the fiber of every sapient being to be. The wills of the magi-technicians were so immaculate that they survived dissolution into chaos and entered the newly born cosmos becoming it's gods. They watched all the sapients for ages until they found the one person worthy of their wisdom and charged them with bringing order to the turbulent world.

This person and their followers fought a great crusade that unified the known worlds and brought peace and proprietary to all. Well that's what was supossed to happen? the taint of the mages had done more than inflict magic upon a new world. it had transmitted their desire for domination, giving rise to a another civilization one ruled by those strong in magic. Who wage an unceasing war against the faith and it's people.

Theocracy by divine mandate are the keeper of wisdom, thus all science is occulted to the temple out of the hands unenlightened masses. The temple bistowes it's wisdom and upon the people as they deem nassery.
You do not want to be a layperson caught experimenting with ecclesiastical-matters; especially magitech thing will get very medieval for that unfortunate soul.

All of what twenty first century westerns see as higher-education is restricted to the priesthood.
the temple runs the educational system and anybody of above average intelligence is offered induction to the priesthood, few turn this down. To put some perspective on this, the dominate wrting systems uses a complex system of ideograms, what the layperson uses is only slightly better than pictograms.

When a person comes of age if they are not inducted into the priesthood they go on to join one of the many guilds or work in some branch of the civil-services.

One of the most important task of the priesthood is to protect the people from magic. all people know the signs of a person undergoing and erruption into their magic, which can happen at any time in persons life mostly it happens around puberty. A person who is becoming a mage is encouged to turn themselves in beffore that surging power takes hold of them. Those mages who turn themselves in are given three choices, Death,Suppression, Expiation.

Death: Is usualy met out to those who chose it rather than live as mages. As well as a punsihment to those who consealed their eruption into mages and caused damage.

Supresion: it's impossible to strip a being of their magic without killing them , so they are fed drugs to keep them from achieving the state of mind required to propellerly wield magic for the rest of their lives; which in the case of mages can be quite long.

Expiation: Those who chose to serve the temple as agent-expiati, lose all sapient rights and server the remieder of their lives as living extentions of the Temple's will. who's primary task is combating heretics and the Magocracy.
