A Tribute to Tim Curry

Here's a thread to talk about Tim Curry. Both he and Dolly Parton died yesterday [Aug. 25th], but I didn't find out that he'd died until today. 😞 Two of the very few celebrity deaths I will mourn.

Feel free to share memories of, or discuss, his iconic roles, his career, his skill at narrating audiobooks, and everything else. Which of his characters are your favourites?

I'm going to be listening to his audiobooks of the Old Kingdom trilogy for the first time in October, after reading my own copies countless times over the years. [I never had a chance to check out the audiobooks until now.] it's going to be a bittersweet experience, for sure. I'm planning to read his memoir in October as well.

The world will seem a little less brighter now, without two absolute legendary people in it.

Uhhh... I was going to say those deaths usually come in threes, but not Tim Curry too?

:bigtears: :bigtears: :bigtears:

More and more the world becomes something I cant recognize. Its just not the same without these people in it.

Fly to the Angles Mr. Curry.

Dropping the big numbers now, he was the same age. I always mistook him as Scar, because apparently he was going to play the role. I regularly revisit his part in The Worst Witch and Annie. Truly a generation defining performance.

Rest in peace to another legend. I saw the news as well.

To bring some levity, I will never not crack up when hearing the perfectly campy performance he put on for Command & Conquer:

Everybody talking about Command and Conquer but hardly anyone mentioning his other big role.
Nigel Thornberry in that Nickelodeon Show (It's been a MINUTE so I forgot the name)

Not to derail this thread too much but I kinda think two threads on this subject is enough.

We also lost the Voice Actor for Optimus Prime this week.

Actually, I dont know anything about command and conquer.

I remember him as a sweet transvestite, the lord of darkness, the butler in clue, and of course, Nigel Thornberry.

For me mainly Long John Silver. Sort of actor that kept popping up in movies as 'just that guy' but giving it all he's got.
He would put in an Oscar performance for 'man in crowd'.
