I never wanted to be a writer, until about a year ago. I must have written hundreds of thousands of words in my career; reports, articles, courses, student handouts. I didn't hate it but it came under the heading of 'part of the job'. Then I read through the 70,000 words I'd written and realised I had an almost finished fantasy in front of me. It began when I couldn't get a phrase out of my head and decided to figure out who might have said it, why and what happened then... More importantly I realised that I loved every minute I'd spent on it, even, in a twisted sort of way, the ones I spent staring at yet another gaping plot hole. It's still a work in progress and that's why I'm here, to learn, share and answer that question.
