I'm not a moderator. I just write/wrote articles for the website and chat along with the mods, but I don't have any ability to ban folks despite my fitting name.

The Article Team implies nothing more than that we used to write articles when that section was more active. For your information, the role includes no moderating functionality.

I am always around folks, it’s just that I don’t really interact anymore.

Love you Sheila, you are like an angel of keeping us straight.

I am sure all the past members made good contributions, its just they have moved on to other things.

My point is only that AE Lowan could also have the tools. She does not want them, so…that is fine too.

Well, with effort you could possibly prove something, but do you want that hassle?

Further, Amazon is not exactly caring about who owns what. They wont remove scammers without duress, and they will not recoup or make good on any money lost.

True story.

What would be extent of damage should information was released? I ha e my work time stamped after all. 🤷‍♂️
Technically, we all have the evidence that any work of ours is ours. It's the dates in your version history and can also be seen under Properties.

Thank you Goldie!

At the moment, it looks like the bot invasion has been stopped. We have to remain on the lookout for these things, anyway. As usual, if you folks see anything suspicious around here please report immediately.

Thanks everyone!

Thank god.

I've been raising suspicions about this for at least a year and finally some action.

I have to say I'd lost a bit of interest in the forum because of the obvious bots fishing for content. Hopefully the community can be restored.

I do feel a bit ignored by all the bots. Only one of them tried to get money or a manuscript from me. (And that one was slayed before I had a chance to report it...). What if bots think I'm not good enough. :O I'm wondering if I should now post more to attract some attention. I want to feel popular too... ;)
Your last book was quite good. That argues for bots not knowing quality when they find it.

I feel like I must project something that says, I wrote a book, and I now I want to give you my money.

Um...no I dont.
'Exiles: Pilgrimage' has been out for less than two weeks, on Amazon for half that time, and has half a dozen sales - most of them freebies on Smashwords. Yet, the scammers have already found that book.

My favorite part was that it just wanted to talk about our third book. Like, awesome, but how did you even find it, and not the first two? Even while admitting it knew it wasn't Book 1.

Whatever happened to Finchbearer? Quite liked her.

Strange, I just mentioned her in another thread. Her ears must be buzzing.

She made no announcement, just moved on I guess. I had PM conversations with her in the past where she mentioned she might stop coming by. I think she wanted a larger, and dare I say it, younger and more mixed crowd than often appears on MS. We do have a lot of males, and not very many women who are regulars here.

I dont think we've had a lot of bots. We get a lot of ppl who come for a day and are never seen again, but... Until this last week, I've not seen a lot of 'active' fake accounts. I dont think that is a huge problem for us.

I'm glad I'm mostly ignored by the bots.
I'm not confident my content is THAT good, but like, I'm still not interested in sharing it with bots.
If I even catch the tiniest whiff of a bot I'm reporting spam. I'm just a rando writer on here without a single book to my name, anybody taking 'interest' in my work is absolutely a bot since I have no online presence except for my personal google docs collection. I know well enough most publishers won't contact the writer first and that's good enough info for me to not trust anyone offering services, bot or not.
