Hello! + A different idea?

Hello! I am a new member, just want to say thank you for welcoming me to the community and was hoping to run an idea by you all before I really get started.

I am a member of many forums and I like to do on topic games/stories that involve the entire community. Is there anyway, or any interest, in me being able to do something like that here?

Essentially roleplay, but I call it a world building exercise, I have also heard it referred to as interactive fiction. Think something similar to the TellTale games.

We have a subforum dedicated to writing challenges. In the past, it has been used for short story contests. You might be able to build on something like that: Describe a city or other location and invite members to write short stories set there.

It definitely does not qualify as a short story.
You use short stories to build the world.

You don't say that the City of Ty was attacked by barbarians; instead, the authors show what people went through during that event, with each tale from a diferent characters perspective. The barbarian warrior is going to see things very differently than the guardsman or artisan.

It could work, but it might be a bit confusing. Many of these worlds are going to have a multiverse, the first one has 12 main Earths.

I think any RPG, or even a choose your own adventure book, is interactive fiction.

Howdy Thrillho, Welcome here.

On the subject of games on the forums, for whatever reason, they dont really take off here. You might get something going in the chat area, but...games and contests usually fizzle pretty fast on the forums. I guess its just not the culture there.
