hello- Teen beginner fantasy author here

Very interesting, sounds like you've obviously put quite a bit of thought into the concept.
I'm interested to see how the story plays out, hopefully you'll post some here for us to enjoy!

Elara, a twelve-year-old girl with extraordinary elemental powers,
*gasp!* We're twinsies! Though my protagonist is 14/15.

he girl's formidable abilities to control more than two elements which is extremely rare.
Stooooopppp!!! We're twinsieessss! Though my protag controls water/ice, earth, lightning, *a spoiler*, and lava. Originally I had her also able to control wind, but never had her use it so now she doesn't get it at all, hmph!

Elementerthalassium.
I both love and hate this word. XD

Elara is forced to confront not only her own fears about her abilities,
đŸ‘€

will she embrace her destiny as the prophesied elemental master, or will she risk everything to save her parents and protect the delicate balance of the realms?

Welcome to Mythic Forum.
Thank you

Oh, it is giving avatar vibes :ROFLMAO: I got told by someone in my school, it reminds her of Frozen 2.

Frozen 2 also gave Avatar vibes. XD I was so excited when it came out because I thought, "this is perfect! If people like this movie a lot, then the atmosphere will be ripe for my book series!" but here I am, still editing and revising~ Ahaaaa

I'd say yours is more Avatar meets the mystery genre? Idk, my family and I just rewatched Spykids 2 for the first time since we were kids and the idea of the celestial pendant Mcguffin reminds me of the "Transmooker" they used there (Don't judge me. We remembered the movie fondly, but upon watching it as adults...oh boy. XD) Perhaps the Monkey's Paw is a better comparison, though I don't think I remember enough about that to really say so.

Which, happy for you, cross genres are speculated to continue to be the big thing (Romantasy is finally dying out as a trend, but it looks like horror/mystery mixed with fantasy is rising, so depending on when you publish, you may get a lot of hype)!

While I was not after a Frozen market, I will say I do feel I missed my window because I was too slow at writing. I think I may be able to catch another one, but not the one I wanted. What can you do? Maybe I will set a trend.

I don't remember Avatar much to be honest. And I don't even think I've seen the other ones you mentioned.

Avatar needs more scrutiny, I think.

Samurai Jack is way better :)
Both are good at what they set out to do (Except for Korra with all the rebooting and random nonsense)
No reason they can't coexist
Only thing that might throw off new Samurai Jack watchers is the long bouts of silence between scenes. And maybe the way Aku's mouth moves (I always cackled about that) racially/culturally sensitive types might be a touch offended at a certain character (You know the one)

I still need to actually watch Samurai Jack. I didn't pay much attention to it when it was airing. But Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend Of Aang? Soooo many great writing lessons involved there.

World building? Perfect
Character development? Beautiful
Pacing? (I haven't actually scrutinized this part, but I think it is good.)
Tone? đŸ¤Œ Balanced and perfect for target audience
Stakes? High and meaningful
Plot? I mean, it is somewhat generic—Chosen One/special person must stop evil warlord type and save the world, but it is told in such a unique and vibrant setting with fresh, realistic, and original characters that it makes it feel original enough.

Note: This is ignoring Korra. That series has a lot of problems. đŸ˜…

I could not get through Korra.

I think you are a little biased toward TLA. One thing I dont like, is when the story makes me go BS. TLA had a bit of that. I think it fails on gravity, real stakes, and simple problem solving. It was a product of its time.

I know you think Zuko had a great redemption story. I dont think he had one at all. We are going to differ a lot.

hi I started writing last year, but I didn't think it through properly and unfortunately was unexperienced so I ended up no having a magic system or world build. When I had writer's block I tried using a website called SudoWrite however I didn't realise at the time that this website was an ai assistant for authors so I let it make my outline and magic system, and I recently realised it was ai and stopped using it. I've deleted the parts written in ai and rewrote them in my own words and have just started recreating my own magic system and world, I've done quite good so far but since I'm only a beginner and don't have much experience I was wondering if anyone had any tips also I am only on chapter 3 of my first draft, nearly on chapter 4
Hi,

Kudos to you for recognizing what happened, clearing it out, and diving right back in to build this story with your own authentic voice that takes a lot of integrity and dedication, especially for a first draft! Hitting chapter 3 and pushing into chapter 4 is a huge milestone for any beginner writer.

Since you're currently shaping your new magic system and world from the ground up, are you looking for a beta reader to take a look at your early chapters and world building notes to see how it's landing so far?

Hi,
I completely agree with you on Avatar: The Last Airbender it really is a masterclass in storytelling! The way it takes a traditional "Chosen One" trope and elevates it through deep character development, rich world building, and high stakes is incredible. It’s such a great source of inspiration for any writer looking to balance humor, heart, and epic plots.
Since you have such a great eye for narrative structure and world building dynamics, are you currently looking for a beta reader to review your work and give feedback on elements like character arcs or pacing?
