Troubadour
From the words of a storyteller

Back when Humanity confined itself to the first Inhabited Continent of the world, our first hero ever was born. Back when the divine ruled directly, and humanity was only beginning, Liya was born. We do not know her identifying last name, only her first. Liya saw magic as a tool that the divine used to control humanity. As she matured and grew, that belief inflamed into war, and the divine eventually left of their own accord, leaving a mark of magic in the western highlands. They would return later. For an unknown amount of years after the war, she lived happily, gaining a husband and daughter. But one enemy remained. Years ago, the divine decided to gift humanity magic, starting with one person. Fiercely loyal to the divine, and the first human ever to have magic, this unknown person, who had survived the war, decided that revenge was the best path. They traveled to an outpost in which liya's husband was staying, and massacred all who were there with him. We believe that the battle took place in a ruined, but strangely intact stone building in the Blacklands of the shadow tribe, of the western highlands. This person stayed there after, waiting for Liya. eventually, Liya would arrive, and kill this person, but she had lost her husband to them, and would mourn that for the rest of her life.

Years after Liya, the first hero, and after the divine returned, those who were born with magic began to organize, to unite, and the elemental tribes rose. Truly, they are not tribes, that is simply a traditional name. This hero's story begins at the establishment of a school to teach the elementals to use magic effectively, all we know about the founder is her gender and long-term plans. The hero was part of the very first batch of learners, though we know nothing of their time there. Years later, the founder of this school proposed to the leaders of the tribes, all from the first batch of academy students, to unite the tribes and conquer the world, and the nameless Hero was the only one to turn it down, forcing them into war. we know nothing of the time period, even less than the time of the first hero. All we know is that the nameless Hero killed the founder and saved the world from her tyranny. The loss of information can be attributed to the rise of Abai, goddess of death, and her first invasion only a few years after the believed time of the war. It is unknown what happened to the hero.

The final hero before the world was tainted with evil, the final hero before three divine betrayed us and joined Abai. Similarly to the Nameless Hero, we do not know his name, but we know everything else. The Tamer successfully gave humanity the Saurae. A Saurae is a large flying lizard that has endured for many years. There are three types, all of which the Tamer once met and tamed a few of. First, the Saurae Dragonae, a creature with four legs, one set of wings, and as with its counterparts, a surprisingly light body. They once predominantly lived in a part of the planet torn away by Abai long ago. They are normally around 30 feet long, 40 feet tall, and 20 feet wide. Next is the Saurae Isaehud, a monster with two sets of wings. it is around 40 feet long, 60 feet tall, and 40 feet wide. It can use magic itself, and is very heavily armored. We have not seen one in around 254 years, but we know they exist. Next is a variant we have not seen since Pharoie, the greatest hero ever, disappeared, which has been a very long time. The Saurae Kujgaeno is a kind comparable to the divine. There are ancient reports of it having the ability to shift forms, making certain that its unnatural size wouldn't destroy it. Anyway, the Tamer managed to domesticate at least one of all three of these Saurae, and he went down in the legends forever for his deeds, as the only hero who never fought divinity, as he died shortly before Abais next invasion.

~

Aujvo is the only hero who never fought a battle. Most do not classify Aujvo among our greatest heroes, though since most classify Arin as a greatest hero, I see Aujvo as one, too. With his friend, Gurvban Juvyudis and relative and other hero, the Tamer, Aujvo invented many things, and by the account of Aishrune, a distant descendant of Aujvo and divine guardian of invention, the most important and best invention of Aujvo's is a small, handheld object able to propel pebbles forward at speeds fast enough to cut straight through skin and bone. Aishrune has yet to replicate this invention due to the harsh loss of resources that occurred in Arins time. virtually all of his inventions are lost, except for a few pieces of his legacy hidden across the world.

~

Arin has never been a hero through traditional means. We honor him for his leadership, not his kindness. Arin rallied humanity together to defeat Abai, and though he failed and all of his greatness was destroyed, he stalled Abai, giving Pharoie enough time to move in and defeat her. I do not have anything else to say. Arin was a terrible man, universally hated but recognized as a hero.

~

Pharoie Wirisip was the greatest hero ever known to us. Arin's control and power allowed him to twist the minds of the people in many ways, and one of those ways was destroying their trust in magic. When Abai invaded again, we know that she got very angry, though we do not precisely know why. Abai personally killed Arin and destroyed all of his progress. Because magic wasn't used, Abai easily won. Humanity almost lost everything here, but Pharoie, divinity of, perhaps, weather. We don't know. Anyway, Pharoie stepped in, fought Abai, and, when Abai managed to cast him away, he destroyed the continent, reversing Abais magic, saving the remaining pieces, and forcing Abai back, winning all by himself.

~

Arlikuy Heli is the most recent one, and there isn't much to say about him. In Abais next invasion, he defeated her and her allies in one week, killing one of her allies. Then, when she invaded again, he defeated her in a month, and in the third, most recent time, it took a year.

I think you can add more storyteller-ish speech patterns, talk with the listeners and of course over-dramatize the tales. And maybe instead of "we don't know" you could use something of "and no one ever knew" or "only the gods know", y'know, to make it prettier. I think pretty language is very important for telling a story orally and if you say that it was written down from a storyteller I feel like it should retain all those characteristics. But nice world! I guess heroes are a very important piece of the society in it.
