Inkling
Over the last week or so I've worked through the issues with formatting and publishing my poetry collection.
No expectations of a megabestseller here but am glad to get it out and we'll see what kind of response it gets:

My first poetry collection - No Longer Dressed in Black - is now available as a kindle ebook:

Amazon.com: No Longer Dressed in Black eBook: Kenny A. Chaffin: Kindle Store

It includes a selection of poems written over the last two decades (1990-2010) that were published in a variety of small magazines and journals with additional new and selected poems. In the vein of full disclosure many of the poems are in a SF and Fantasy vein, but certainly not all.

In preparation for the above (testing formatting, etc.) I posted my flash fiction story Spinning which is also available at Spinning (short short story): Kenny A. Chaffin: Amazon.com: Kindle Store
This story could be considered fantasy, SF, horror of mainstream depending on your perspective.

Both are available to Amazon Prime members for free through the Kindle Owners Lending Library.

Enjoy!

Inkling
(A Father's Day poem from my collection No Longer Dressed in Black)

Old Barn

I see it each day on my drive to work
weathered and worn -- gray as ash
tilting foolishly into the wind.

Its corners worn down at horse-shoulder height --
sunlight and rain through the roof.
I stop one day from my morning rush
to take a closer look.

It’s door blows open with a screech
and I hear my father yell “Don’t let the
damn cows out what’s wrong with you boy?”
and it takes me back to that time.

When I dreamt of the future
and what it would bring
and how little I knew of life.

I think of him now in bed with no legs
leaning into his final hour and
I wonder if he thinks of those days.
I wonder if he dreams.
